Cornell has had a lot of players on its roster during the past decade who played junior hockey for the Nanaimo Clippers. Tonight, while watching Jeopardy, I had to chuckle when one of the contestants said she had done naked bungee jumping in Nanaimo. She said there is one day a year (hopefully, in the summer!), when you can bungee jump for free if you "do it in the buff." Unfortunately, she came in last and won't be back on the show. But perhaps that explains why Cornell's coaching staff is always eager to make a recruiting trip to Nanaimo.

I don't want to think about where you tie the cord.

Next season (unless something changes), Garman and Birch will be the only former Nanaimo players on the roster. After Garman graduates the lacrosse program will have more Clipper experience (Bremner with 67 games) than the hockey team (Birch with 19 games). Will seem mighty odd.

Currently, Nanaimo only has three players committed for next year (one to Sucks), and the Clippers are not at the top of their division as in past years. Maybe this has something to do with it.

The Naked Bungee jump is the last weekend in February and is a fundraiser for the BC Schizophrenia Society.
