Mark Morris

Don't know if anyone saw (or cares) but Mark Morris, former coach at Clarkson, has resurfaced in the AHL no less.  He is going to be named the new head coach of the Manchester (NH) Monarchs, the top affiliate of the LA Kings.  After being fired for the player confrontation in 2002 he has done quite well for himself, assistant to Marc Crawford in Vancouver, head coach at the ultra elite Northwood School in Lake Placid and now head coach of an AHL team.

He'll be trying to recruit more PUNCH, and a STRANGLING defense.

The two names that I had heard throughout the summer were Bruce Crowder and Robbie Ftorek.  Not sure who was actually interviewed but those were the rumored front runners.  Crowder was getting a lot of play because he lives in Nashua.

One other point, Ron Hextall is the Monarchs GM and his son plays for the Northwood School in Lake Placid coached by Mark Morris.  Hockey really is a small fraternity.

And how exactly does a post obviously made as a jest demonstrate anything about someone's knowledge of coaching?  Rich S, you're a hypocritical agitator who single-handedly diminishes the quality of this board.  I went over to your sad Golden Knights Roundtable and it took me all of two minutes to see that you commit or blithely sit back while others commit the same "crimes" you feel compelled to police here.  You have no credibility with me.  Why you come here and behave the way you do is beyond reason.

Greg "singlehandedly" makes tasteless and inane comments about an excellent coach  who  has been gone from the college game for several years.   Seems it  would be a classy move  to simply wish him well.  Obviously that's beyond Trotsky.

Maybe you're right.  Instead of commenting on Greg's post, I guess I should  suggest he expend his energy worrying if Schaefer is working on the "clutch and grab" technique he demonstrated against Mich State last year.

Why is the Roundtable "sad"?  Because we don't spend time trashing opponents  play and their academics as you do here?

Cripes!  Nice humor and it is in fine spirit of many a Lynah chant flipped towards the opposition.

However, facts is facts, Mark got the royal shaft from the (since departed) school administration.  He is a good coach who IMO was the victim of a great left wing conspiracy.

Greg singlehandedly made a funny post.  I'd appreciate it even if it were against Cornell because I like wordplay, much like I appreciate your response to the left wing comment, even though I'd rather not have the MSU incident referenced.

Your comments would be welcome if they didn't constantly attack members of this board.

There are two ways to respond to this.  The first is to point out that most of the time we don't bash other schools' academics and play; you specifically draw that down upon Clarkson.  Most of the discussion on this board centers on critical appraisal of Cornell, the teams it's playing, the professional successes of former players, etc.  Yes, we see Cornell through Carnellian-colored glasses, but we try to be honest.

The second way is to point out this exchange on the Roundtable, which "trashes opponents...academics" in a thread on selectivity rankings:

I've got an idea.  If you don't want to hear bad things about Clarkson, go to a fucking Clarkson board instead of spending all your time bitching incessantly here.  You guys don't spend your time bashing other teams?  Great, good for you, I could care less.  Know why?  Because I don't care what happens on other teams' boards.  Know why?  Because it's not my team.  Therefore I shouldn't spend time getting sand in my vagina about comments on other boards that hurt my fragile little feelings.
