I wouldn't call it a hard-on.  For my semi-generation of Faithful that was our trial by fire, our darkest hour, so to have kept up the spirit and intensity and that point in time is a badge of honor (as much as being a fan of a sporting event can be a badge of honor, so as to not infringe on those with true badges of honor) and I wear it proudly.  You don't see the British renaming Trafalgar square just because the Napoleanic Wars ended near two centuries ago.

As for him giving me anything, nope, and if he tried it probly would have ended in another battery suit for him.

Do you mean that in the same way that "fat" is sarcastic, "could" is said in an ironic or sarcastic way?  I've never heard someone say "I could care less" in that way.  I think the "n't" just fell off somewhere along the line and people repeat the expression without being aware, or caring, that they're actually contradicting themselves.
