Three questions:

1) Am I going to need binoculars from 227? (iirc no clear bag policy so a purse is fine, yeah?)
2) Do we still do the chants and stuff? (I can only assume.)
3) Where are people going to pregame? If I recall correctly, I get to my hotel around 2-3-ish, and it's a stiff 30 min walk to MSG. Would absolutely be down to hang out before the game.

The 200 level at MSG is really good for hockey, IMO, especially if you're in the front half or so. That's where we usually sit, though I won't be there this year. You can usually find at least a couple Cornell fans at pretty much any bar/restaurant within a short walk of the Garden, and there are several organized meetups, though I'm not sure if they organize anything for current students.

Pro tip: You'll almost always get in faster if you go around to the entrances at 31st and 8th, though if you're showing up before 7:30 or so it probably doesn't matter.

IMO at the Garden your row is more important than your section.

i leave the pregaming (alcohol version) questions to others because i usually go to koreatown (32d between 5th and Broadway mostly) for dinner before the game, which i highly recommend. which place? in my experience, there are no wrong answers but i've been to miss korea, new wonjo and cho dang gol (35th St., not vegetarian but specializing in house-made tofu) plus a few places i've walked into when the lines at my usual spots were too long. Again, no bad calls.

this is the first msg game i'm going to miss in a while since we're going out of towh for thanksgiving.

We haven't picked a pre-game place yet because we have out of town friends and their tween daughters joining us, and we have a toddler, so the usual packed and loud MSG-adjacent Irish Pubniverse probably isn't adequate this time. We've discussed just punting to Nathan's for ease and speed, but we'll see.

We're excited to see if most of a year having passed is enough for Isaac not to feel overwhelmed at a live hockey game - we did bring him to the Garden for some playoff college hoops last spring, but it was in my firm's box, which is a slightly different atmosphere. Either way, we're (mostly) mentally prepared not to be able to stay more than a period, especially given that gametime is his usual bedtime.

On the plus side, he's now doing the full "Let's Go Red!" chant.  ;D

~15 minute walk, but ymmv depending on your odometer.

We just can't let Hutson kill us with his stick, because if we can take that away he'll just be out there not playing defense. Sacha Boisvert has also been out for them, that's a big help for us if he doesn't return this weekend.

From Casey's email this morning:

"As Thanksgiving approaches, we all know what that means-Red Hot Hockey, as we head to MSG to play BU this Saturday.  BU has a ton of talent, but reading their coaches quotes, have been inconsistent so far this season and are ranked two spots behind us in the national polls at 19. The one thing I do know, is this isn't one of the games where they will not play to their capabilities so our expectation is it will be an incredibly intense game. One that we are looking forward to!"

(Bolding by me.)

That's Casey throwing a little shade at the BU coaches for publicly criticizing their own team, right? (I like it!)

Sounds like they didn't bother to watch any tape on BU

I'd say that's Casey being nice by quoting their coach's relatively benign comments, as opposed to saying BU is a complete tire fire defensively, and he can see that on video.

I read that and went "ohhh shit, he just said that?" And then proceeded to grin unbearably hard. I wonder if he reads the forums... lmao
