From my perspective in 101, Cornell didn't outplay BU except for a handful of extended chunks - BU was beating Cornell to the puck and passing far more crisply, making Cornell pay for mistakes and not making as many mistakes of their own. That said, it was a blast being there with friends I don't get to see nearly often enough and running into others, and it's always a bit magical seeing Cornell play in MSG no matter how well BU rises to the occasion or how much more puck luck they stumble upon.

My cope: Willing and ready to leave after one period if Isaac couldn't manage it, as puck drop was literally his bedtime. Against all odds (though in fairness, he'd been sick and not sleeping great for a few days) Isaac took a four-hour nap that afternoon, then after burying his head in Mama's chest for half of the first period, he started to come alive. By the second intermission he was dancing and singing along with the pep band directly behind and above us instead of cringing at how loud it was, and chanted "Let's Go Red" every chance he got. He was legit sad to leave and talked about hockeyball the whole way home. Warmed the f out of my heart, and gives us great hope for future good experiences at Lynah.

Quote from: stereax on December 01, 2025, 08:39:30 AMI was musing about this on Saturday - it felt like each week last year, I was giving injury reports of 3-4 guys who'd get shaken up, some of whom would return to play and others who wouldn't. "Floating around the tunnel" has basically exited my vernacular this year. The team hasn't had a major injury yet. Well. They did have a Major injury. But. You know what I mean.

...I'm off to knock on all the wood in the house.

You do understand that, now if anything should happen in this area going forward... IT'S ALL YOUR FAULT!
If you lead a good life, go to Sunday school and church, and say your prayers every night, when you die, you'll go to LYNAH!

That's adorable. Please get him to Lynah as soon as you can!
Is next year here yet?

So say we all.  But obscurity does not negate influence.

QuoteBut the effect of her being on those around her was incalculably diffusive: for the growing good of the world is partly dependent on unhistoric acts; and that things are not so ill with you and me as they might have been, is half owing to the number who lived faithfully a hidden life, and rest in unvisited tombs.

So.  Be good.

We're 17th in the poll this week. Still above BU!

Quote from: ugarte on November 29, 2025, 10:20:06 PMthe veilleaux pass that led to the second goal was infuriating because he had guys to push the puck to and instead he threw it ahead into a counterattack.

That was one of the few times this season where the game seemed to speed up on Veilleux and he rushed a decision.

He did a good job jumping on the loose puck.  His forwards leaving the zone where not expecting a pass for whatever reason and it went for the turnover.

I've watched the play several times and I still can't decide if Veilleux threw up his left hand in frustration that those guys weren't ready for a pass or was it more an "oh no" I better get back?

He then got caught up at the blue line and had to settle for defending the guy going to the net.  Cournoyer doesn't get beat clean like that very often.  It's too bad that they paid the price for that one play.

It was about now that we began to crater last season, from 6th to a low of 33rd and then out of the points entirely, before the excellent recovery and playoff run.

I am married.

Whatever it was, it was always going to be my fault.

Email day! These always make my week.

Dear Stereax,

Not the result we wanted, a 2-1 loss, but what an exceptional event and weekend for our team. For the first time this year we looked a little nervous out of the gate on Saturday. We seemed to settle in after BU scored an early PP on a fortuitous bounce and after killing off a second quick BU power play to start the game.  Effort wasn't the issue, ultimately it was a lot of players first MSG experience, and I believe even though we talked about it all week, it took us a bit to handle the environment. Ultimately it will be a great learning experience for this group.

We tied the game in the second period when freshman forward, Reegan Hiscock, scored his third of the season. From that point on, we took control of the game and generated the chances needed to put the game away, but we couldn't capitalize. Unfortunately, they found the go-ahead goal in the third—one that Alexis Cournoyer would certainly like back. Still, this was his eighth straight start and probably his first soft goal of the year, which speaks volumes about the start he has had to his freshman campaign.

We had power-play opportunities late in the game to even things up, but we couldn't find the tying goal.  A little more poise would have gone a long way, and we watched these opportunities this week as a team.

Before the game, we were honored to have Cornell's 15th President, Michael Kotlikoff, join us in the locker room to announce our starting lineup. It was a special moment for our players and staff, and his presence added to the excitement and significance of the night. We're grateful for his support of our program and for taking the time to share that moment with us.

We got back to work on Monday, preparing for our trip to the North Country to play Clarkson and St. Lawrence. The last weekend before finals is always a tough weekend. It's critical we focus;  grind through this week and lay it on the line this weekend. Then we can take a breather and get ready for our second half push.

I want to thank everyone who traveled to MSG and supported us from afar on Saturday night. The energy in the building was incredible, and it means a great deal to our staff and players to see so many alumni, families, and friends of the program in the stands. Red Hot Hockey has become quite the tradition for a lot of our alumni. Your continued support makes a real impact on our group, and we are grateful for everything you do for Cornell Hockey.

Let's Go Big Red!
