Cornell not getting much respect from the rest of the Ivy League, as evidenced by our being picked to finish seventh in the preseason poll.

They'll need to earn it.  But I believe they are building a good base of talent each year.  Princeton coach Bob Surace was 1-9 each of his first two seasons, and Buddy Teens on his return to Dartmouth was 2-8 each of his first two seasons.  Both coaches went on to make multiple runs as Ivy League champions. Nothing is guaranteed of course with Coach Swanstrom, but with better a recruiting budget and better facilities, things that former coach Al Bagnoli requested and received during his time at Columbia, it finally paid big dividends to Columbia last season.

This season's Ivy League schedule is a bit tough with away games at Yale, Dartmouth, Harvard and Penn, and also with Cornell breaking in a new QB. It would be nice to finish .500 or better, but I'll take competitive games.

Cornell did win 3 Ivy games last year - finishing fifth - in Swanstrom's first season.  We finished 4-6 overall.

Yep good start for his first season. Nearly won the Brown game and we could have finished 5-5. It's also some behind the scenes actions like hiring a strength coach solely for the football that should have development going forward.  Interesting camp coming up with the battle for the QB.  We are going to be deep at WR, and RB depth is improved.

That's what happens when I type on my phone sometimes, my eyes aren't as good as they use to be. :-D

the preseason predictions probably assume some regression purely off of jameson wang's graduation. swapping out a three year starter is going to get skeptics.

FWIW there are 3 tiers of fungibles:

The Good: Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale
The Cromulent: Columbia
The Rest: Brown, Cornell, Penn, Princeton

Seems reasonable to me to predict we will fight it out for 5th through 8th, with a reach goal of 4th.

It's Ivy football; it's a cripple fight. We could even make a move into the Good if the QB situation is better than tolerable.

Reminds me of homecoming and how literally nobody wanted to ACTUALLY go and watch the game. An LLM friend and I finally made our way over and I had to spend the entire first half, I think, explaining that this is not, in fact, good football.

I once attended "The Game" with my Eli son.  Those who watched the whole game, which had an exciting 4th quarter, were anti-social.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

Isn't that The Big Game?

I thought it was the Michigan-Ohio State game. At least that's what Wikipedia says.
(Also, if I can ask, who's that in your pfp JTW?)
