I don't think the quality depth is there yet.  It's possible they take a set back this season having to replace Wang at QB.  Another recruiting class like this years will really help the program.  My forecast is anywhere from 2-7 to 5-5 at best.

This literally just occurred to me, 5 games in.  Does the Ivy champion get an auto bid into the FCS NC$$?

Edit: This seems to indicate yes: https://www.dratings.com/predictor/ncaa-football-predictions/fcs-playoff-projections/

Harvard currently projected as a 12 seed out of... 16 I guess?  Or maybe 32?  The NC$$ does that idiotic thing where they only show the home seeds.

Edit II: Looks like it is out of 24.  Projected conference bids:

7 Missouri Valley*
4 Big Sky (I coulda sworn those guys were FBS?)
3 Southland
1 Ivy, Big South, "Northeast" (?), Patriot, Pioneer, Southern, "United" (?).

* We need to kick these guys up a level.

Looking at the FCS Coaches Poll, some familiar names:

  7 Lehigh
 17 Harvard
 30 Lafayette
 31 Penn
 37 Dartmouth

Cornell is, ahem, unranked.

There are 129 FCS schools.

The full stack power ratings: https://www.versussportssimulator.com/FCS/rankings

10 Penn
13 Harvard
16 Dartmouth
29 Princeton
36 Brown
42 Yale
76 Columbia
113 Cornell

Before the Bucknell win we were dead last, so, progress!!!

Trotsky

It is theoretically possible to beat Brown today and put a team below us in the Ivy standings.

October 26 FCS Rankings:

 9 Harvard
12 Dartmouth
13 Yale
15 Penn
39 Princeton
64 Brown
88 Cornell
89 Columbia

Granted I am not an attentive fan, but I can't recall a Cornell football game where we made no turnovers.  Now for all I know it was the immediately prior week, but it has seemed a weakness for, oh, 45 years.

Upbeat: Note the last item in the 2025 Big Red football schedule.

November 9 FCS Rankings

  5 Harvard
 13 Dartmouth
 17 Yale
 26 Penn
 47 Cornell
 61 Princeton
 70 Brown
 96 Columbia

Our progression during the 4-game win streak:

129 (last in the FCS) --> 113 --> 88 --> 68 --> 47

This is a fun page.

BLUF: Cornell ranks 227th in all of college football right now.  When we were 0-4 we were 670th.  No idea how many teams this is out of but it probably aint much more than that.

Here is a white paper on the site's theory.  John or other local geniuses: comments?

very cool to see, especially after how we started but now i am finding myself bummed out. Season-opening loss, 13-10 to Albany? They're 1-9 now and ranked 116. 41-21 loss to Colgate? They're at 85. Blowout losses to Harvard and Yale in there too, and what happened after the 0-4 start? Swanstrom started playing his guys over Archer's recruits.

OK, feeling good again. Still don't love seeing that number next to Dartmouth when they're up next.

One final note about these rankings is that no matter what they say I'm going to need some more evidence in the postseason before I expect anything but a blowout when an Ivy or Patriot team has to take on the big dogs from the Big Sky. I don't think there's a ton of daylight between the top of the Big Sky and the MAC.

By my count we have not had a winning record in the Ivy League since 2005. Just need to win one of our last two to accomplish this, which would be a big step forward.
