Except for an inconsequential stretch of land from the Main Line to Hanover, Stanford-Cal.

Isn't that The Big Game?
I dunno, man, I'm not even supposed to be here today.

I thought it was the Michigan-Ohio State game. At least that's what Wikipedia says.
(Also, if I can ask, who's that in your pfp JTW?)

That's me, back before the kids turned my beard white.

Cal-Stanford is Big Game. No the.

arugula

And it's always Cal Stanford. And Yale Harvard. At least in my home.

During the Ivy League's virtual football media day, Cornell coach Dan Swanstrom said preseason All-America WR Sam Msungu played with a torn ACL last year (while collecting 83 receptions and 10 TDs in 10 games) and may sit out the 2025 season.  He had surgery after the season and may miss this season.  WR is a deep group so hopefully we can find depth to fill in.  But his loss will still be tough for the offense if he misses the season.

oh damn that sucks. i don't feel like checking if it was posted in here (even worse, if this is where i first read it!) now that I've started typing but he was on a FCS Players To Watch list. Huge loss if true.

Any updates on Cornell football from pre-season practices?   Nothing on the Big Red website.   The biggest question is who will replace Jameson Wang (graduated) at QB this season?    Additionally the running game really struggled last year and hopefully someone on this team can carry the ball this fall.

Hurry up and wait I guess as the first game is not until September 20th.   Go Big Red!

If I had to guess I'd say that junior QB Devin Page wins the starting job.  RB depth is improved with the freshman they brought in, as well as the transfer from the Air Force Academy, Jordan Triplett.  Ean Pope, a junior probably starts at RB. Other than that, another big question is whether WR Samuel Musungu is recovered from his off season surgery to play this season.  I hope we see improvement on defense, as Cornell was very weak on DL play last season and in the secondary.

Cornell opens their season at Albany this Saturday with kick-off at 7 pm.   I have no idea of what to expect this season and not much has been posted on the Big Red website.   Albany has a nice stadium (Bob Ford Field) and easy commute from the NYC metro area up Route 87 or from Ithaca on Route 88.   Thinking of going to the game, but a late night return.

CAS

In a recent zoom call, Coach Swanstrom said 100% of players with eligibility chose to return to the team, & 70 were on campus over the summer, where they could train together.

Incredible thing to see in the football schedule

Good news is Albany sucks this year.  Bad news is Albany sucked last year and destroyed us.

Hope I'm wrong, however with Cornell breaking in a new QB, their star WR out with an injury, and the inevitable first game mistakes, probably means a first game loss.

Any optimism for this season? Will we improve on our 4-6 record from last year?
