"Vow not to spend money on campus" ...including the tuition, then? The money paid for food on campus - much of it arguably pre-paid via dining credits - is barely a drop in the bucket...

Withdraw from school.  That's a protest.  Say one thousand students withdraw in protest.  That will hurt.

If you want any institution to do something, you must either hurt it or have a credible threat of hurt.  Without Malcolm, Martin can't accomplish doodlysquat.

Why would someone ruin their own life by dropping out of school? And then do what? Sit at home all day?

I thought they were trying to stop the wholesale rape of women.  Silly me.

They could transfer, but just bailing now doesn't accomplish anything. It's not like they'd get their tuition money back.

Hell, Jane Doe didn't even get her tuition refunded.

Transfer where? There's sexual assault at every school, probably quite a bit more at most of them.

You've lost the plot if you think this is a realistic thing for a person to do or would accomplish anything other than 30 minutes of attention.

One person doing it would accomplish nothing, but a mass movement could.  Just like one person not going to work is nothing compared to an organized strike.  The more important question is what would the demands be?  Would they be both well-defined and doable?

There are tens of thousands of qualified kids who'd take their place at Cornell in a heartbeat. Cornell is one of the best learning institutions in the world that students worked incredibly hard to get into and/or had incredibly rich parents. Nobody's going to throw away this opportunity because of something that happened two years ago, that also happens on every other college campus (and broader society), and that the Cornell administration arguably didn't even mishandle.

I feel like most of this boils down to "similar things happen at just about every other college campus and broader society as well". We kinda just got chosen as the current "face" of the issue.

And now the expectation is that they are the new face- and leadership- of reform.

A class action of one thousand students saying they withdrew from the school after it came to light university actions were not protecting them, demanding claw back of tuition and damages, would accomplish plenty.  Even if unsuccessful it would embarrass Cornell brutally, and insofar as ordinary people have any ability to influence sociopathic institutions it is by threatening them with debasement of brand.

Cornell does not give a shit if some students facetime in front of the book store.  It cares a lot when obnoxious NYC donors call up saying "you're exposing my daughter to rape, I'm canceling my gifts and you're lucky I'm not suing you collectively and individually.  And actually, come to think of it..."

Remind me not to be your Jewish neighbor in 1943 Warsaw.  You've told me everything I need to know.

It's not going to accomplish anything, so why stick your neck out?  Just keep your head down.  Maybe you'll come out of this with your property.  Hey.  Maybe you'll even pick up something from that estate sale.

It's the smart thing to do.

You're LARPing again. Nobody is actually going to do any of this because it's guaranteed to fail, counterproductive, and would ruin the person's own life. You haven't even established your anger towards Cornell isn't completely misplaced. This has absolutely nothing to do with "1943 Warsaw," which I would know about because "your Jewish neighbor" was my own family.
