This team just cannot play with more skaters than the other team. Good lord.

Oh well.  Somebody was gonna win and it could easily have been us.

Just keep gelling and getting ready.  We'll beat them twice in Potsdam.

Double depressing considering how badly we outplayed them for long stretches. One of our better efforts of the season, but their goalie made some huge saves and they capitalized on the few opportunities we gave them.

Clarkson wisely waited until the Big Red players were off the ice to taunt the student section.

Think anyone will notice if we put Nash and Greening out there on the power-play tomorrow night?

Trotsky

This is still a team that can make noise in the post-season.

Indeed, I hope their takeaway is, except for that one miscue, THAT is how you play defense. First game I feel like I haven't seen us running around in our own end. And against a very good team.

Little less hero puck from Bancroft and a bit more puck luck and we'll close out strong. Too bad we spotted the rest of the league too many points.

Does Lynah still smell like a men's bathroom? It's the little things in life that you cherish for decades.

And their goalie tripped on the floor and ate it mid-taunting, much to the delight of the remaining students.

Yep. Now that I've had a minute to think, that was a really solid game from the Big Red, limiting Clarkson to like, 12 shots on goal? I think? That's what the scoreboard said.

Bancroft was making me furious with the dangling and dancing. You have a shot. Shoot. Good things happen when you shoot. Especially cause he coughed it up one time too many.

Yeah: he was a bit of a turnover machine tonight, and it's not the first time that's happened this season.

Shots on goal were 25 to 11 and we still couldn't get a fucking win. It's crazy to me that you guys are taking this like a moral victory when we just pissed away our chance for a bye. We need to learn how to score and it's ridiculous how many games we've "outplayed" the opponent and come out with a loss. I've even been bothered by how positive Schafer has seemed about the team in such a bad season.

Give My Regards

Losing sucks.  This was not a moral victory or any other kind of victory, it was a loss.  Zero points.  And losing sucks.

That said, yes, there were significant stretches of the game where Cornell did outplay Clarkson.  OK, the power plays were not really part of those stretches (what else is new?) but they did a pretty good job in their own end for the most part, and generated more than a few good chances in the Clarkson end.  Langenegger had to come up with some clutch saves in what was probably one of his best games of the season, maybe his career. Again, it wasn't good enough to get the win, and that sucks.  But if they can keep playing like that, they'll beat SLU and RPI.  Play like that and they'll have a decent shot against Union.  Play like that and they'll handle whoever they face in the first round (Cornell is still mathematically alive for a bye, but it's EXTREMELY unlikely), and in the quarters, who knows?

Of course, they are also fully capable of blowing any or all of the games mentioned above, I don't dispute that.  But this loss feels a bit different than the ones to Dartmouth or the one against Union.  Call me a fanatic, but I'm thinking they're not quite dead yet.
If you lead a good life, go to Sunday school and church, and say your prayers every night, when you die, you'll go to LYNAH!
