Quote from: ugartewhat a good feeling to come back to elynah to see that we didn't lose after having to turn it off (as opposed to turning it off in anger) down 2-0. obvs annoying that it hurts us in the pairwise but it's always fun to watch your guys come back for the tie than to blow a lead. we all contain multitudes.

I turned it off when we were down 3-2 in overtime, but fortunately eLynah told me to turn it back on.

Quote from: ugarteSt. Lawrence highlights on YouTube are only SLU highlights (and Shane highlights on SLU scoring chances). By that I mean, neither Cornell goal and three shootout goals by SLU in a shootout that they lost. At least the Cornell recap had the Psenicka and Seger goals.
realized that i didn't need highlights, i could flip on ESPN+ and pull up the game starting with ~3 minutes left. also here's another look at the offsides.

This.  I'm going to file this game away, so the next time I feel myself thinking, "Why does this shit always happen to us?" I can remember that one time we happened that shit to someone else.

You could also break out your copy of Live at Lynah.  (Although it is nice to have an example from the last quarter century.)

Good to see the return of clever repartee, instead of recent internecine sniping.

Or the one even before my time, Providence 1979.  Would link, but TBRW doesn't work on my phone.
Let's Go RED!

On the topic of annoying play-by-play announcer tropes, the guy did the whole voice-cracking in the middle of saying "he scores!" thing (for SLU goals only). He scoOOORres! Are we really meant to believe this is an involuntary quirk?

The best thing the SLU pbp guy said came after the Kempf goal (on which his voice didn't crack): "Winners win, that's all I can say about that."

As for the color guy saying "the win will still be sweet" after the first Cornell goal, I didn't think that was meant to be homer-y. The surrounding conversation makes it sound more like a hypothetical, i.e., it will still be sweet to beat a ranked team if they endure the final 90 seconds of Cornell coming hard at Krawes even if they lost the shutout. Not trying to say they aren't homers but I also don't think they were counting their chickens so much as being proud of the team for such a good game overall.

Thanks for the offside screen captures.

It's pretty amazing that the Cornell coach responsible for catching stuff like that actually caught it in real time.

I've watched and rewatched our two extra-man goals against SLU, 6 skaters versus 5.  More players clogging up the ice than on our power plays, yet we scored twice in 91 seconds.  What was different?  IMO, a greater sense of urgency!  We didn't dick around looking for the perfect set up.  We didn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

the counterpoint, of course, is that your risk/reward calculus changes a lot when you're losing with the clock running down. not that i think our power play has been fixed or anything, but desperation mode is probably an overcorrection.

When was the last time we scored 2 or more EA goals in one game?
