Quote from: billhowardThe announcers saying there'd be a five-minute warmup then play resumes suggested the NFL had that as the plan for Monday night's game rather than that's what happens when an injury stops play for 20+ minutes.

The NFL, of course, said they had no intention of resuming play.  That begs the question, why did they need to wait an hour to cancel the game?
.

I saw one tweet -- I think from a person who said they used to be involved with NFL game ops -- that said they might have held off on canceling the game immediately to avoid everyone leaving the stadium and creating a traffic jam while the ambulance was still on site. That wouldn't explain why they didn't call the game right after the ambulance left, though, especially since it was obvious that the teams had no interest in resuming play.

Quote from: billhowardDidn't that embattled new guy from LI have football on his resume?

Probably not, because neither Baruch College nor NYU have D1 football teams and he might be accused of embellishing his resume.  As we know, embellishment warrants a two-minute penalty.

There's an interesting article in the NY Times that notes "Other professional leagues have experienced similar crises. In 1998, Dr. Matava helped treat Chris Pronger, a defenseman for the St. Louis Blues, when a puck hit his chest and his heart stopped. Pronger, who survived, was found to have suffered commotio cordis, in which a severe blow to the chest at a precise moment in the heart's rhythm can stop its beating."

Bill Tierney is retiring after this season. Great career.

But he's from Brazil, so you're misunderstanding the kind of football on his resume. I heard he made the Brazilian Men's National Team (in soccer) but couldn't play in the World Cup because of injury. At least that's what his resume says.

One social media account asserts he will coach a granddaughter's lacrosse team.

Referees are calling an emergency meeting.

Tierney is 70. Jim Boeheim, still rolling along, is 78 although Boeheim and his wife, Juli, are way younger, combined, than Bill and Susan Tierney.

Should Cornell be higher or lower, based on their perfect record?  I clicked on the link and every single team has an up arrow as compared to the previous poll, so everybody starts on the upswing! ::burnout::

Oh wow. This is awesome (for me).

Does Ivy lax have a Mecca like the Palestra is for Ivy basketball?

Is it at Princeton?
