Re: TBRW Awards -- Nomination Phase - 13 years ago
Trotsky Y'all know the rules. Well, OK, maybe y'all don't know the rules, so they are listed below. Please put forth your nominations and include any argument you want people to consider prior to their vote. The nominations phase will conclude at midnight Saturday 26 March. There will then be a voting phase that will conclude at midnight Saturday 2 April. As the Editorial Board attended onlyby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Atlantic City-ECAC hockey attendance fiasco - 13 years ago
In speculating about possible future sites (assuming AC attendance doesn't pick-up the next couple of years), I'm surprised that no one seems to mention the IZOD Center at the Meadowlands. It certainly has more availability than many other sites given that the Devils and the Nets have departed; and, while it has little charm, it is more accessible to the majority of the ECAC fan base than is AC.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Cu - 0 Yale - ECAC finals (postgame) - 13 years ago
ebilmes Just watched that clip of "The Shift" for the first time in a while. Notice how much the Cornell players were hustling to pucks along the boards. Last night, especially in the defensive end, this kind of effort was not present. Some times, all it would have taken was one D-man hustling to a puck, then two sharp passes, and we'd be back in the neutral zone. Instead, it was Yalby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Goalie Choice for Atlantic City - 13 years ago
Larry72 Killer Jim Hyla dbilmes We would have lost to Yale no matter who was in goal. But with Garman in goal, I'm convinced it would have been a more competitive game.I'm not. I have to agree. I was hoping to see Garman between the pipes, but I'm afraid all that would have changed would have been the guy facing all the pucks. The observations about Yale taking it to us by being faster, alwayby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Cu - 0 Yale - ECAC finals (postgame) - 13 years ago
Having attended last night's debacle, we can talk about systems, style of play, whatever. Fact is Yale right now has far more talented players than we do. Hard to know why, but it seems we're bringing in some higher caliber classes than in the past few years (based on their relative performances in their Junior leagues), so maybe we can close the talent gap. Yale loses a lot this year, so we'lby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Goalie Choice for Atlantic City - 13 years ago
WOW, was Garman great. He seemed always in perfect position, and rarely had to scramble. Does Schafer stray from the goalie rotation and try to ride Garman at least one more night?by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Women's Frozen Four Thread - 13 years ago
BU was clearly the better team after the 1st 10 minutes of 1st period. Perhaps the less than stellar competition during the season (that many people have commented on) caught up with them tonight. They just didn't seem able to handle how quickly BU got on top of them, especially on the forecheckby scoop85 - Hockey

dag14 I hope that posters can just let this one go; a player's family financial situation should be a private matter. Not that I'm going to discuss it, but the player seemed to have no qualms talking about it to the IJby scoop85 - Hockey

If Birch can't play, I'd assume we use the normal 6-defensemen allignment, with Ross staying at D and antoher forward (Axell?) stepping in.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: The Devins - 13 years ago
Beeeej scoop85 I was surprised no one followed-up when I posted in February ... any takers now? Um... good call, scoop? I'm really not looking for a pat on the back (well, maybe I am ); but I just think that Joe Devin, especially, has not received his due this year. Clearly the team MVP. I imagine that given the scoring touch he's developed this year, as well as his decent size, that he'llby scoop85 - Hockey

Re: Quinnipiac 1 Cornell 0 (ECAC QF Game 2) - 13 years ago
Trotsky Rita This doesn't affect us at all, but the goofers are currently down 2-0 to the Alaska Seawolves with 4:18 left in the 3rd. Alaska leads the series 1-0, and are poised to send Minnesota home for the season (they are tied at 17 in the PWR). It would be nice to have a lot of disappointed gopher fans in St. Paul/FF.Ordinarily I wish no one ill. But fuck those jackwagons. I gotta thinkby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Recruits - 13 years ago
Heisenberg lists a new recruit for 2013, Eric Sade, a defenseman from Washington, D.C. Last year he was selected by Des Moines in the 5th round of the USHL futures draft. My guess is that he'll spend a year or two there. Eric's stats.by scoop85 - Hockey
Re: Cornell at Army lacrosse - 13 years ago
Trotsky Army beats Cornell, 11-9. I don't know if that's disappointing or expected. I went to the game. Disappointing in that we made a slew of turnovers, and Fiore was not at his best in goal. We also missed a number of point-blank chances, and Army's goalie (Pawlesky) made a number of sick saves. Cornell was without three starters (Lau, Mock and Feeley) who were all injured; their absenceby scoop85 - Other Sports

Josh '99 The Rangers' broadcasters have had some good things to say about Greening during tonight's game in Ottawa. Colin continues to skate with Jason Spezza and Bobby Butler on the Sens' top line, but hasn't had much luck on offense tonight (nor have most of the res of the Sens against Henrik Lundqvist), and was IMO at fault for the Rangers' third goal. It was also noted that the Sens have aby scoop85 - Hockey

Al DeFlorio We are lapsing back into last year's late collapses. The team just loses intensity for some reason. I don't think it's conditioning. Yes, flashbacks to Princeton and Loyola coming to mindby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell vs. Hobart lax - 13 years ago
The team looks much sharper than this time last year. FO's still a concern (even though the stats show us taking 5 out of 11), but otherwise nothing to complain about.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: The Sad Thread: Worst Losses in Cornell History - 13 years ago
Josh '99 Jordan 04 nyc94 Dafatone Jordan 04 I certainly don't consider the Wisconsin game as one of the "worst losses" in team history. We had to come from behind the previous game against a very talented team to even make the Regional Final, it was a home game for Wisconsin, we and McKee played incredible, and we finally lost on a shot that few, if any, goalies could stop. Re: The Sad Thread: Worst Losses in Cornell History - 13 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Beeeej Robb I heard something about a game in New Haven one time, but I'm pretty sure that was just a rumor.... I thought about that one as well, but I had the impression Greg was aiming more for games that were particularly devastating to lose, that we had a real chance at winning, that were surprising losses, etc. In that case, I would add the loss to Bemidji in Grand Raby scoop85 - Hockey

RatushnyFan ....but you have a gem in Joakim Ryan already headed to Ithaca. Any word on whether he'll be 2011 or 2012? Second among USHL rookie defensemen in scoring (Alexx Privitera is headed to BU). USHL Defensemen Scoring Most USHL players have a tough first year, seems like Joakim has hit the ground running. Re: Cornell at Rensselaer - 13 years ago
ursusminor CAS After watching the game on TV, I definitely don't share the RPI complaints about the officiating. In fact Cornell incurred more penalty minutes in the game. The fact that Cornell received more penalty minutes than RPI has very little bearing on whether or not the Refs treated RPI unfairly. I would think that someone with an elite education would realize that. The difference inby scoop85 - Hockey
