Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 13 years ago
Al DeFlorio ben03 at least we know we can get to 59:59. Right. Plus, I'm encouraged by the domination of Brown for three quarters and Princeton for a half. This team is now showing that when the middies and attack play together, they really can do some stuff. The problem seems to be that, with a lead, the middies sit back and let the attack--meaning, to a large degree, Rob Pannell--do all theby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 13 years ago
Al DeFlorio scoop85 The biggest result of today's loss is that, had we won, we'd be a 6th seed and projected to face MD in a second round game.I think we'd still have drawn Syracuse as a potential quarterfinal opponent. Princeton's win yesterday moved the Tigers ahead of Duke to #5 in RPI. That boosted Syracuse's quality win score (Princeton was now in the 1-5 band, not 6-10) and lowered Marylaby scoop85 - Other Sports
Seeded 7th -- Facing Loyola - 13 years ago
So, we get a 7th seed and a home game against Loyola. Tough test, but certainly a winnable game. The biggest result of today's loss is that, had we won, we'd be a 6th seed and projected to face MD in a second round game. The Terps are darned good, don't get me wrong; but now, if we're fortunate enough to beat Loyola, we'll almost certainly get SU in the quarters.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
Josh '99 Al DeFlorio Al DeFlorio ugarte Did we leap back over Princeton in RPI?Dunno. Laxpower hasn't factored the Cornell-Brown into RPI yet. Will probably come down to the result of Sunday's game.Posted now. Princeton .615, Cornell .614. Guess a win over Yale counts for more than a win over Brown. Or maybe the Siena and Mount St. Mary's wins affected opponents' opponents' opponents' opponeby scoop85 - Other Sports

I caught the post-game press conference. I hadn't heard Lars Tiffany before; boy, he's an impressive guy.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
14-8 final. Strong game in most facets (except man-down). Boykin was phenomenal at on faceoffs and groundballs in general. But for the Brown goalie and some off-target shooting, we'd have 20.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Al DeFlorio I am dazzled by what I'm seeing. Al, you've got a few years on me, but I can't recall seeing anything like these past few minutes from a Cornell teamby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
Al DeFlorio Brown goalie has 13 saves. Fiore has 2. I knew there was a real disparity -- I just didn't realize how much. Fiore's gotta make a few more saves.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
6-4 CU at the half. But it's the most uncomfortable 2-goal halftime lead that I can recall in a long time, considering how we've dominated the faceoffs and ground balls. The trend all year has been that our faceoff effectiveness disapates in the 2nd half. Brown's goalie was tremendous -- it easily would be 10 or 11-4 if he was even just average.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
6-3 Red after a man-up by Brown. But we've missed golden opportunities to be up by 7 or 8by scoop85 - Other Sports

5-2 CU. Cornell dominating FO's and groundballs. Brown having a terrible time clearing.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
3-2 CU end of one. BTW, these announcers are horrid. The color guy just does not shut up.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Men's Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
3-2 CU with a couple left in the 1st. CU dominating possession (I think we've won every faceoff), but the Brown goalie has made about 4 point-blank saves. If he keeps that up it will be toughby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Lacrosse Saturday May 1: We're IN - 13 years ago
Interesting factoid (to me, anyway): but for the Dartmouth blip, our regular season losses this season were to the same teams as in last year's run to Memorial Day. That being said, this season has had a far different feel. This may have been Tambroni's best coaching job overall (which is saying a lot). Given the way the Ivy League season has played out, next weekend's winner is anybody'sby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell Lacrosse Saturday May 1: We're IN - 13 years ago
5-3 Cornell at the half. BUT, we had a great shot to go up 6-2, but Hurley put on off the crossbar. Princeton then came down and on an unsettled situation a longstick beat Fiore. In the last few seconds, Ritchie was stopped after a good opportunity, and then Cornell committed a penalty. Princeton will have a short man-up to start the 3rd. We dominated the first number of faceoffs, but Princby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Where's Big Red Puckhead? - 13 years ago
pfibiger his prospect page was updated on 4/16, so he's clearly still on the hunt: I guess there isn't a lot of newsworthy stuff happening since all these kids are done with their hockey seasons, and we locked up so many 2010 (and 2011) kids early there aren't a lot of late announcements. I hadn't noticed that he recently updated the prospect page. Thanks.by scoop85 - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Brown lax - 13 years ago
13-10 final. We just didn't have it today. D was shaky, Fiore was ordinary, and Brown played an intelligent game. Don't know what to expect next week, but Princeton is certainly beatable -- but not unless we play a lot better.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Brown goalie's made some nice saves, especially at key moments.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Brown lax - 13 years ago
Credit to Brown - they've gotten the bulk of the key ground balls. Also, we did not have enough movement on offense the last few minutes; it's almost as they've come to expect Pannell to do it by himself.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Brown lax - 13 years ago
11-9 with about 5:00 min left -- But Cornell missed out on a huge man-up opportunity. Harvard leading Princeton 10-6 with about 3:44 left in the 4th.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell-Brown lax - 13 years ago
While a 5 goal deficit is not automatically insurmountable, hard to see a realistic chance since we've been so ineffective on face offs.by scoop85 - Other Sports
