Re: Younger Fiore's IHS Lax Games now being broadcast - 13 years ago
Swampy Trigger If you can't get down to Moresco Field at Ithaca High School for the remainder of the lacrosse season, all the games will be broadcast live on 1160espn.com starting with tonight's regular season finale against rival Corning. Tonight is internet only - the rest should be on local radio - 1160am - as well. Adam Fiore, AJ's younger brother and a Junior at IHS, leads the team withby scoop85 - Other Sports

semsox Al DeFlorio Latest on the Rhamel Bratton situation in the Baltimore Sun: I'll be very surprised if he doesn't play. Prepare to be surprised. Won't be activated this weekend, per Starsia. I am surprised -- but credit to Starsia for doing what he thinks is right for both the team and the player.by scoop85 - Other Sports

UVA-Denver is another barn burner. But I don't see either of these teams giving Hopkins much of a game.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Lax scores - 13 years ago
Al DeFlorio TimV Shit! Bucknell is supposed to be smart guys. Jack Emmer said so. Two meathead plays: 1) with a little less than 3 min on the clock and a 3 goal lead, Bucknell tries to score into a 10-man ride empty net from about 70 yards away. This with an open midfielder available for a running clear that takes time off the clock. UVA clears and scores. Then, 2) they take a hurried shot withby scoop85 - Other Sports

now over to the Denver-Villanova game. Ah, nice to see that Tierney whines just as well at altitudeby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Lax scores - 13 years ago
UVA wins it. we get them next Saturday. Although I was pulling for Bucknell, I don't necessarily think they would have been an "easier" opponent for us.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA Lax scores - 13 years ago
now tied after Bucknell takes a bad shot and Stanwick comes back to score. 1:45 left. It would be a shame if Bucknell loses, as they have been the better team between the lines.by scoop85 - Other Sports
NCAA Lax scores - 13 years ago
JHU blitzed Hofstra in the second half and won going away, 12-5. Penn has that deer in the headlights look -- losing to ND 4-0 with 6:00 left in the first.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Alumni In The Playoffs - 2011 - 13 years ago
Josh '99 Jordan 04 Perhaps it's because I tend to look for him on the ice, but it seemed to me that #3 received an awful lot of ice time last night for the Sharks in the final 5 minutes, from final the penalty kill through to the final buzzer. A testament to the reliable defender Murray has become at the NHLlevel. You're correct, and it's not terribly surprising since a lot of the Sharks' defenderby scoop85 - Hockey
Re: NCAA lacrosse - Cornell got a good draw - 13 years ago
billhoward Cornell doesn't have to go on the road in round 1. We've gotten screwed that way before. Cornell isn't seeded for a matchup with #1 on the second weekend. (Last year headed for a Cornell-Syracuse showdown but thank you, Army.) Any team is capable of an upset, but unless they start calling themselves The University of Hartford, we are okay. Who would you rather see us play? We may nby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: NCAA lacrosse tournament seedings, brackets, etc. - 13 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Actually, I think the UVa - Bucknell match might be really interesting. I think Bucknell has a reasonable chance at the upset there. FWIW, anybody know anthing about Hartford, other than it's the capital of Connecticut? Well, other than my sister being a Hartford grad, Hartford played a spirirted game against SB yesterday. They have some good offensive skill players, and tby scoop85 - Other Sports

semsox Not to be that guy, but looks like a 2nd round match-up against Virginia is looming True, but I don't think any of the other options -- MD, UNC, or even Denver -- would be any more or less favorable.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
Why is Pannell trying for that big hit on the sideline? Nothing good can come of it (just like the hit near the end of the Princeton game)by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
9-5 end of 3. Moving Noble to take most of the faceoffs has paid off nicely. Even though he's not winning most of them, he's getting a stalemate which allows us to have a 50/50 shot at the GB. Also, Fiore's been making some saves -- kudos to him after a rough start following a bad game last week.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
4-2 end of 1 after Mike O'Neill scores his second of the quarter in the final minute off of a Pannell feed. Yale's playing well, and it looks like it will be a struggle all game.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
Also we're getting whipped at the X, predictably so since Yale has been great all season. But we have to find a way to at least win a few.by scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Ivy League Lacrosse Tournament - 13 years ago
4-1 Yale in the 1st. Fiore is simply not reacting to anything. I had hope to see West start tonight, but we'll likely see him sooner than laterby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: CU-PU Lacrosse BOSTON Metro viewing - 13 years ago
phillysportsfan So who starts in goal on Friday? That was a very scary game, glad we dont have to play them again on Friday. Hopefully this is a good wakeup call and the team realizes they cannot play like this again if they want to win next weekend and beyond I would imagine Fiore, but he'll be on a short leashby scoop85 - Other Sports

Re: Penn State head coach - 13 years ago
Ronald '09 According to Bob McKenzie, PSU has hired Guy Gadowsky as their head hockey coach. Penn State University will announce Guy Gadowsky, now ex of Princeton, as new head coach of its fledgling Div. 1 hockey program.— Bob McKenzie (@TSNBobMcKenzie) April 24, 2011 I just saw Brian Sullivan's tweet on this as well. I thought PSU would poach someone from one of the "Big 3"by scoop85 - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 Brown with 27 turnovers! Wow. They've been awful. I wonder if Tiffany wishes he took the Penn State job nowby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse in 2011 - 13 years ago
Ronald '09 This is a really nice job just taking care of business against an inferior opponent on the road. Our inadequacy at the X has been alleviated all game by Brown throwing the ball out of bounds uncontested after winning the faceoff. I swear, I didn't see your post before I said essentially the same thingby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse in 2011 - 13 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 End of the 3rd. 15-4 Good Guys. Time to empty the benches. FO's only weakness today, but Brown has committed so many turnovers after winning the faceoff that it hasn't mattered.by scoop85 - Other Sports

Re: Cornell lacrosse in 2011 - 13 years ago
So, 8-2 at half. Pannell with 4 assists, Lang with two goals, balanced scoring overall. Brown hasn't had many chances, but Fiore came up big in one sequence in the 2nd period when it was 5-2. Field conditions are abysmal. Brown has committed a slew of unforced turnovers. While we missed some golden opportunities, can't really complain about a six goal lead at a place that hasn't always beenby scoop85 - Other Sports
Re: Cornell lacrosse in 2011 - 13 years ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 scoop85 watching the Brown feed. Announcers are reasonably knowledgeable (but no Barry and Howie), but their banter is inane Were they just talking about their childrens' bedtimes? If so, then it's the same as the audio. Um, yeah -- really pathetic stuff.by scoop85 - Other Sports
