Re: 2021-22 Women's Schedule - 2 years ago
Found an exhibition game and a few more non-conference games on the other schools' schedules Oct. 16 at RIT (exhibition) Oct, 22-23 vs. Mercyhurst Jan. 11 at Penn State Feb. 8 vs. Penn State Syracuse hasn't posted their schedule yet, but there are usually 1 or 2 against the Orange.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Wrestling 21-22 - 2 years ago
George64 Does anyone know when Olympian Kyle Dake will be wrestling and on what channel match can be seen? Men's 74kg starts Aug. 4 at 10 p.m. ET. Looks like the coverage is all streaming or on the Olympic Channel (you usually need a sports tier on your cable package to get this) until the gold-medal match, which is on USA on Aug. 6. EDIT: Based on the air time, that USA coverage is taped, sby Weder - Other Sports
Re: ESPN+ price increase - 2 years ago
Also worth noting, if you watch the NHL, that ESPN+ will have something like 75 exclusive games a year, and those games won't be available on regular TV even if it's your local team.by Weder - Hockey
ESPN+ price increase - 2 years ago
For those of you who haven't had a subscription recently, the annual price for ESPN+ has increased by 40% (from $50 to $70) since January. It's $7 a month. The ESPN/Disney/Hulu bundle is $13 a month, and I use those services enough to find the fee to be worth it.by Weder - Hockey

Re: 2021-22 Men's Schedule - 2 years ago
If the game can't be played at MSG because of a conflict with the Rangers/Knicks/etc., would folks prefer: * Play game in Newark/Brooklyn/new Islanders arena * Play game in some other city (saying this because it's being described by CU as a neutral-site game) * Skip the game this year (a.k.a. MSG or nothing) I also would love if they could find a way to do a men's and women's doubleheaderby Weder - Hockey
Re: New College Hockey Program? - 2 years ago
The Predators and the regional government have built a couple of ice centers in the Nashville area and are working on a third. There’s also been a Thanksgiving tournament with some big DI women’s programs for a few years in Nashville. So there’s a lot going on and it would be great if Tennessee State adds hockey.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
osorojo Uh, you forgot "suburban" and "small-city/town" growth. Face it. The economic reasons for big cities continue to collapse. It's about money and communication. Big cities are more expensive to live in, information travels to and from everywhere at the seed of light, and pretty much everywhere has a much friendlier cost of living than large cities have. billhoward upprdeck Cornell as whole across the campus has done a good job of bringing talented people in.. Then they have done a horrible job of retaining them in many key areas. The world continues to become more urban. Only Dartmouth among the Ivies is more rural. Cornell has to find jobs for the trailing spouses. The opportunities for work fall off after Cornell, Ithaca College (big layoffs tby Weder - Hockey

Trotsky Weder Cornell Men’s Hockey Reveals 2021-22 Schedule Link? Did they actually have the schedule or did they just describe it to us? Doesn't seem to be on the Cornell site yet. The above was an email from Schafer. Schedule link added to post above.by Weder - Hockey

Re: Schafer's salary - 2 years ago
Maybe I’m just drawing a blank right now, but other than men’s lacrosse which recent head coaches have used Cornell as a steppingstone? The only other one I can think of is Donohue, but he was never going to stick around for the long run. (And at this point he’s not even that recent.)by Weder - Hockey

Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky ClarksonHockey Cornell vs Alaska Fairbanks Oct.29 and 30th at Lynah per Fairbanks schedule release.Very cool. Extremely cold for the return series the following year. Are we doing that? If so I am going and some of you assholes are coming with me. Are Ivies allowed to play the extra games you get as credit for visiting the Alaska schools?by Weder - Hockey

Jeff Hopkins '82 scoop85 The Rancor I haven't watched any NHL this year... the Chase logo on the helmets bugs me. I've barely noticed them I had to look up the logo on the Flyers' helmets. It was some company I've never heard of. Whatever. So the ad worked?by Weder - Hockey

Trotsky I thought we were subsidizing the Poors now? Guess we're not as generous as HYP. Damn (((Day Hall))), with their soft hands from counting money... I'd guess that the financial aid formula is completely different for international grad students.by Weder - Hockey

Re: Yet another collegetown bar bites the dust - 3 years ago
upprdeck Still trying to understand How cortland gets KFC and Chick fil now to come into town but Ithaca cant support them or ponderosa or pizza hut or burger kings but we have multiple dunkins and sub-ways and macdonalds. A lot of chains make proximity to a major highway a huge factor in selecting a location. Re: Grad transfers - 3 years ago
blackwidow ugarte Trotsky blackwidowI think the advantage is, he could potentially play for Vermont for 2 seasons back to back, whereas if he had stayed at Cornell, he would just play one more season and sit out for a year and play one more year of college hockey elsewhere? Did i get the NCAA rule right???I thought (and I could be wrong) that if the Ivies cock-blocked you from playing as a grad sby Weder - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 3 years ago
abmarks upprdeck so ND and Mich both test out.. I wonder why they didnt have stand by teams for this like the bball did.. its not like they couldnt push a game or 2 back a day to deal with it. Isn't the obvious answer that you need a bare minimum of 7 guys or so for hoop, and hockey would.need an absolute minimum of something like 13 or 14? (2 lines, 2 goalies and a couple spare parts in case oby Weder - Hockey

abmarks Weder arugula On the webinar, didn’ t Schaf mention an ASU trip over New Years? Yeah, he mentioned the whiplash of playing at ASU one weekend and at North Dakota the next. Why bother returning to Ithaca? Wonder if it's be too expensive to remain out west somewhere for the week and turn it into a team building retreat He was just referring to the difference in expected January weathby Weder - Hockey

Trotsky Weder Schafer also said in the Zoom chat that all of the freshmen are on leave right now.Do they lose a year? My guess is no, because otherwise why would you have them all do that? Doug Derraugh said recently (in an email, I think?) that several of the women's team are not enrolled this semester, either. Re: Ivy League to allow grad student waiver - 3 years ago
jkahn CU2007 Too little too late? and why only for this year's seniors? What about juniors, sophs and frosh who have lost a year. Not doing it for them just gives them an incentive to transfer. I'd be curious to know how many athletes at Ivies are not enrolled for the spring semester to slow their graduation timeline. From what I've heard, it seems to be a not insignificant number.by Weder - Hockey
