I just got an email about this. They're trying to raise funds for the hockey program, but no donation is required to sign up.

My guess is no, because otherwise why would you have them all do that? Doug Derraugh said recently (in an email, I think?) that several of the women's team are not enrolled this semester, either. Maddie Mills said in the women's team's online town hall a few weeks ago that the Ivy decision to allow grad students to play came too late for her, as she'd already committed to Northeastern for next season.

I got the following from Nadia the morning after the event:
Nadia Kiechle
Unfortunately, the Zoom recording did not download properly after the event, otherwise I would share the link to the recording with you. It’s disappointing because I know many folks are interested in watching it. I am hoping we can host a similar event this fall.

I'm not sure how the current freshman taking leave for the spring semester would actually help them eligibility-wise unless they also managed to withdraw during the fall semester so their fall semester didn't count. Well they won't have used up any playing eligibility, they will have used up one semester of class time, and we know that the ivies want you to finish in four years. So if they take this one semester off well they will have four years of hockey eligibility remaining, if they went to classes straight through they would be scheduled to graduate in December of their senior year and for not be eligible for the spring. Would they be allowed to stretch it out a semester?

You.have to be an undergraduate. I was under the impression that you also only had 4 years to use your eligibility (ie no 5th year seniors). Those that know better feel free to correct me.

If you're injured before the season or early in the season, you get a fifth year to complete four years of eligibility.

So we're guessing our entire incoming class of first year players -- which at this point might be like 20 guys -- will have 4 years of eligibility.

That makes sense, but you have to be an undergrad, and iirc you need to petition and make a case to be able to be enrolled beyond 4 years. (Used to be the case, anyway).
If so, and back to mearlier post itt about the current freshman class sitting I hope the springs semester, which was asking how them sitting out this to the spring would actually help them.
Because if they were here for the fall and then withdrew for the spring...to get into that 5th year would require petitioning for academic permission to get into your 9th semester of classes.
Anyone see this differently?
Or, simplified: How hard is it to extend your undergraduate time until a 9th semester of classes and postponing your original graduation date by an extra academic term. LOA terms wouldn't count
