Re: 2020-21 Schedule - 4 years ago
Jim Hyla Weder billhoward Jeff Hopkins '82 According to CHN, Arizona State is playing in a tournament in Milwaukee on Dec 28 & 29. That makes it unlikely that we'll be playing them on Jan 1st and 2nd. If we're playing them, I think it'll be the Dec 4 & 5 weekend. Out in Las Vegas I heard Schafer say, I thought, that we're not going back to the Las Vegas Fortress Invitational tournamenby Weder - Hockey

Four Cornellians (Jenner and Fortino on the first team; Saulnier and Rougueau on the second team) named to ECAC Hockey's all-decade teams. Complete first team. Complete second team. I suppose there will be a men's version of this as well.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women Hockey - 4 years ago
I’ve been meaning to post that at some point (maybe before the spring semester?) Min Shin, who was mentioned in an earlier thread, was added to the roster, replacing one of the other goalies.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women Hockey - 4 years ago
Trotsky IINM, Yale is playing ODB's Shimmy Shimmy Ya at a stoppage. Huh. I got a chuckle out of that. Cornell wins 5-1 and will be the top seed in the ECAC playoffs.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women Hockey - 4 years ago
Trotsky scoop85 It was somewhat humorous how the Dartmouth announcers were praising Dartmouth’s performance. No offense to them, but in the roughly 50% of the game that I watched, they didn’t come close to sniffing a goal.I get it, though. Playing the national #2 they expected a blow out. Props to them for keeping it respectable. The women are getting overlooked because of the men's start, bby Weder - Hockey

andyw2100 KenP How is Purity as compared to the Dairy Bar? I like the ice cream at both Purity and The Dairy Bar. I think the Dairy Bar ice cream is a bit richer and creamier. Oddly, though, I don't think that is true of the Dairy Bar chocolate and chocolate varieties. I generally will order some variety of chocolate when ordering ice cream (Chocolate Bittersweet at Purity) but now won't orderby Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women Hockey - 4 years ago
I missed most of the first period, but Cornell got a pretty dominant 7-0 win over Harvard today. No box score yet, but I’m pretty sure the top line had zero points today. Really great to have this kind of depth.by Weder - Hockey

marty Weder Swampy upprdeck I like the way they did it at the Canadiens game with 9 guys like a flying wedge scrapping the whole ice surface at high speed. of course they also use 2 zambonies and give rides on them at Pro games which is a nice touch. I remember that but don't recall if the 9 guys were on skates or not. But to do that you need 9 people who can skate or at least walk on ice -- skby Weder - Hockey

upprdeck there a lot of pretty good value eating places in vegas, never been to any on this list though. Yup, great places in Chinatown, the Arts District and elsewhere than are totally worth the taxi/Uber fare from the Strip.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Las Vegas Roll Call - 4 years ago
Swampy Weder I’ll be there in one of the GA sections. Note that there is an official alumni reception before the Friday game if you feel like spending $50 for hot dogs and popcorn (a relative bargain for the Strip!) Huh? 15 Places For Cheap Food for Under $20 in Las Vegas I thought the whole point of food on the Strip is bring in suckers customers to lose money gambling to experience thby Weder - Hockey

Browning’s GAA balloons to 0.25 after a 3-1 win over Princeton. A lot of the freshmen don’t seem to be getting much ice time yet. Be interesting to see if that changes when the opposition gets a bit weaker.by Weder - Hockey

This is amusing: Andreev will fly to MSU while everyone else takes the bus because he doesn’t have a visa to enter Canadaby Weder - Hockey
Re: An early look at 2019-2020 - 4 years ago
RichH Jim Hyla As do I. It's nice seeing replays and having a scoreboard that can handle multiple penalties as well as SOG as they occur. I don't see anything that takes away from the game or atmosphere. The old board handled multiple penalties, and I always wondered why they never kept a live count of SOG (only updating during intermissions), but it can't be lack of technology. The ECAC site has Cornell facing Princeton (exhibition? scrimmage?) this Saturday, but no mention of it on either team's site. Huh.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
It looks like other Ivy schools (well, at least the two I bothered to check) also have radio broadcasts listed for their games. Did Cornell football have separate announcers for its radio and ESPN+ broadcasts? I wonder if that was the issue, as hockey does have two sets of announcers.by Weder - Other Sports

Re: New Lynah scoreboard - 4 years ago
Trotsky upprdeck did they even sell all those seats the last few yrs? maybe they plan on sliding those 10 or so seats to the sides? Aren't those just folding chairs? They are actual seats, and that is also an accessible-seating area.by Weder - Hockey

Scersk '97 What happened? The team started just ambling onto the bench ... This was an NCAA rule change. Only players who are going to start the period are allowed on the ice.by Weder - Hockey
Re: Women's NCAA QF vs Norteastern - 5 years ago
Frechette's goal was No. 8 on SportsCenter's top 10, though they didn't really have anything useful to say about it.by Weder - Hockey

Trotsky andyw2100 Trotsky andyw2100Anyone know why Topher Scott isn't doing the color commentary?I know if was mentioned during the season that the RS was his last broadcast, so it was planned anyway. Just watched the highlights from last night's game. (Game 2.) That certainly sounded like Topher doing the color commentary. It was, right? It was. I swear to god he said he was going to miss theby Weder - Hockey
