Re: Cornell 15th in PWR - 20 years ago
I was wondering the same thing last night after seeing the revised PWR and people started playing games with the bonuses and possible outcomes of other games. I seriously doubt there's any way we get in, but if we did, what has the team been doing? Did they fold up their tents and pack it in after the Clarkson series? Has anyone been practicing in any manner? Any way you look at it, we'd havby Killer - Hockey

The model allows you to get them to 6th, but to do so requires that you use numbers like .05, not the more likely .005, etc. I think we'd need the committee's Blood Alcohol Content to be even higher than the bonuses to have thby Killer - Hockey
HE - UMass 5-2 over UNH - what happened? - 20 years ago
Same time I abandoned the Harvard-Dartmouth on the radio to go eat dinner, I also left the UNH-UMass game on the TV. UNH was ahead 2-1 early in the 3rd. I didn't see any UNH players at the table with me, but from the box score, it looks like they stopped playing at about the same time. Anyone know what happened? Did they decide that 45 minutes was good enough? Was there any incident that turby Killer - Hockey

As bad as that seems, it was even more one-sided than 8-4 would indicate. I think Harvard got a meaningless goal or two somewhere late in the game. Anything's possible. It was the 70s, remember. The reason it seems to strike such a vivid image is that I'd been prepped for it by my buddie who was a Pep Band member and had two years on me. So when the chicken appeared, it was like, OK, there it is, just like he said. By the time I was graduating, we'd gone from live to rubber chickens.by Killer - Hockey

I'm 50. Does that make me one of the old-timers? I was there from '71-'77 (slow, yes, but not that slow, I think I remember somehow earning 2 degrees between hockey games). Can't say that I'm a big fan of signs about STDs, sexual preferences, or spouse/girlfriend beating, as they can be offensive and I don't see what they add. No "sucks"? That in itself sucks. At RPI I sat near some a-hole with a big "Cornell Sucks" sign (and wearing a Red Sox hat to boot...the guy just backs losers all around). Anyway, he departed before the game was over, leaving his sign behind. So I got 'hold of a magic marker and corrected his sign. Damn! Look who gets the first slot in Albany. I think it might have been Cavanagh who got the goal, but I'm not sure. Yep, now I'm sure. Bummer, now I won't get to sing "Danis-Boy" in Albany. But the Harvard announcers are convinced we'll be there as well. Let's prove them right.by Killer - Hockey
