Re: Clarkson at Cornell postgame - 17 years ago
Overall, a great game. We dominated on faceoffs and the guys won a lot of the small battles for the puck along the boards. I did think that Clarkson checked harder than we did, but our guys kept up their speed and intensity. It was lots of fun to watch. Great crowd again tonight- I talked with some Clarkson students who came to Lynah for the first time on the way out and they were saying how imprby Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Cornell 11 York 1 - 17 years ago
I think I saw Scali make an awkward hit in front of the bench and come away favoring his shoulder. No idea if anything happened to Carefoot. Tough to take anything away from this. Another team would've taken advantage of defensive lapses. The offense showed real creativity tonight though, and it's great to see goals from 10 different players. It seems that they were taking better shots than laby Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Reminder - Hockey Ticket Preregistration - 17 years ago
ebilmesThere's also the issue of people having another person grab a second number for them, sufficiently far away from their first number that they're nearly guaranteed to have one number chosen. This didn't even cross my mind until I heard about someone who did this. I thought of this too. However, I think when you sign up online you agree to have your bursar charged if your ticket is pickby Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Reminder - Hockey Ticket Preregistration - 17 years ago
Picked up my number at 2:00 on Friday. 226 senior/ 581 overall. This is much lower than what I had expected. It might be wishful thinking but maybe the fact that there's no race to get into a line or competition might weed out facetimers on its own. This year, there's nothing special about getting tickets other than being lucky so it's less flashy and "cool". It's just about wantingby Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Arena's men take the pitch on Monday - 17 years ago
I'm not a huge fan of Argentina, but I don't understand why their game with the Netherlands was a joke. That was simply a case of both teams making it to the next round so they sat their best players, You may be referring to the card-fest that the Netherlands played against Portugal in the round of 16. Portugal in my mind is a mess and I'll be rooting hard against them the rest of the way- atby Molgestron - Other Sports

DeltaOne81minSoccer needs a diving call, or an 'excessive injury' call like (american footballs) excessive celebration. There is in fact a rule that any player diving gets a yellow card. The problem is the ref's don't use it often enough. If they were stronger with it, the game would be a lot more enjoyable. Re: Colgate semi-final Game thread - 18 years ago
CU at Stanford5+ minutes left in the game. I really worry about our low goal production, vs. a red-hot Sucks team that scored 10 goals today. During the intermission, Wodon made it sound like the high score was a case of Devine and Dartmouth just not showing up tonight, not necessarily Harvard becoming amazing. But yeah, 10 goals is scary no matter what excuses you can create.by Molgestron - Hockey

Mine too. And I just bought the damn thing for this game since I'm sick and can't make the trip up. Now I know what you've all been complaining about all season.by Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros -- Jan 2006 - 18 years ago
bigred06The penalty you are talking about was the worst call i've seen this year. Paul Martin dove to poke the puck down the ice just killing a penalty not trying to draw a hooking penalty. Thanks. I had a bad view of those near side boards so I couldn't see it well. And I've been to plenty of terribly attended Devils games, but I don't think the crowd there could have filled Lynah. Saw Nieuwendyk in NJ tonight, and although he's had some great games recently, the Devils held him shotless. It also seemed like he got a lot less ice time than some of the other Panthers- disappointing because I picked the game to see him, although Elias returned and had a great night so that was nice. In a REALLY small crowd, I saw at least two Cornell jerseys and set next to a Quinnipiac fan wby Molgestron - Hockey

In the event of a shootout, both teams officially get the tie right? I was under the impression that the shootout was just for the fans and to officially declare a tourney winner, but for the purpose of RPI and PWR, it was a tie.by Molgestron - Hockey
Re: CU vs. Princeton Post-game - 18 years ago
McKee was OK except for the fluke. There were two quality Princeton chances- one brakeaway and one nasty slop shot that he made a great save on. All I care about is that McKee plays well enough for us to win and he certainly did that tonight. I thought Krantz played better than I have remembered and that our PP was pretty good tonight. Princeton is a terrible team but we played a good game. Thby Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Rangers v.s Capitals - 18 years ago
Fair enough. I seem to remember Malakhov playing a big role down the stretch in his last season with the Devils (02? 03?) so maybe that's why Lou liked him. And I've attributed a lot of his recent poor play and stats to his being so injury prone. If he keeps playing like he has been, I'll be upset, but I feel like there's a lot more so hopefully he can bring that out. An exciting game tonightby Molgestron - Hockey

Rich S Wrote: Nice whining from a Swamp Rats fan who can't accept reality. Time you talked to Lou abouut signing stiffs like Malakhov. In Lou we trust. He brought us the great Parise. Malakhov is the Devils' Ryan O'Byrne. For as much shit as he gets, he has a lethal shot from the point. And the Malakhov/McGillis signing was a decent cover when they lost Neidermayer and Stevens. Re: Rangers v.s Capitals - 18 years ago
I'm a proud Devils and Yankees fan. Probably one of the few that can say that. And Malik's goal was pretty, but if I was coaching a player that did that I would be pissed. Although it looks nice, a trick shot like that fails much more often than it succeeds, and you always want to be giving yourself the best shot to win. I felt the same way about the Legg goal. Re: lines this weekend? - 18 years ago
Going a little bit off topic, does anyone know when the team practices and whether they mind the public sitting in? Especially this week, I think it would be really interesting to watch how they play around with the lines and what Schafer drills them on.by Molgestron - Hockey

Re: Cornell 1, at Dartmouth 5 (2nd) - 18 years ago
I'm currently drafting my email to the Dartmouth announcers with a bunch of constructive criticism. In a few days, when the frustration wears off, I'll send it. The mistakes up until this game have seemed fixable, but the lack of defense is really bad. Hopefully it's a fluke.by Molgestron - Hockey

The color guy is killing me. I just did some research of my own, and he's a Dartmouth freshmen, so that could explain it. They're attributing Cornell's 4-1 record to the fact that they haven't been challenged. Grrr. Because Q and Princeton are the best of the best. Now he's saying that the Cornell radio crew is giving them dirty looks. Kill, Weinstein, kill!by Molgestron - Hockey
Re: Dartmouth Video UP AND WORKING! - 18 years ago
The play-by-play is bad, but the color guy is really adding to the frustration. He's fixated with our fans, and upset that we're clapping "Let's go red" after a goal is scored. And their mics are on now during the intermission. Really, if the hockey isn't enough to drive me to tears, these guys will.by Molgestron - Hockey
