Re: Cornell 4 at Brown 1 (postgame) - 16 years ago
yeah I wouldn't look too much into the shot count of either game, there was definitely some home ice bias in both of those totals.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 4 at Brown 1 (postgame) - 16 years ago
I am just getting back into Ithaca this morning. I can't say I have anything new to add to this discussion, other than that Cornell was outworked in the 1st period and was lucky not to have been down going into the second. It was great to see some other students at this game as well. Even without the band, our fans provided far more support that the skeleton Brown crowd. Obviously a 4 pointby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell Previews - 16 years ago
I told Age a few weeks ago that I would submit a column after this past weekend, and as you can see, well, er that hasn't quite happened yet as I have been overwhelmed this week. However I do promise to have a regular column sent in after I get back from this weekend's games, as well as a player-by-player analysis which I have already started witting. Sorry for slacking off.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
CollegeHockeyAddictI would like to thank the cow bell guy (sorry I didn't catch your user name it was loud when you told me) and the rest of the Cornell fans for making me feel welcomed even though I am a Gopher fan. Getting the chance to experience Lynah from section B was fantastic. I will be visiting quite a few other rinks/arneas out east this fall but it is going to be tough for them to topby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
hockeydude However, that second period reminded me of last years third period at Princeton, just not to as bad of an extent. Excellent analogy, I was thinking the same thing. Although we WERE able to come back in third in that one...by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
LaJollaRedUp until that point, I wanted Berk to be named Player of the Weekend. Last night he had three phenomenal blocks on his stomach, added two more tonight before being sent to the locker room, and some great stuff on offense. He's one to watch. Barlow was fantastic tonight. The second period presented the team with three very difficult situations, 2 of which led to goals...Not bad.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
redhair34On the quinnipiac postgame they interviewed Pecknold who whined about the first Cornell goal. He said we clipped Vetri, and he was certain the goal was going to be called off, watched the replay already..."it was the turning point in the game" yada yada. Did anyone else notice this? Yup, definitely could have been called goaltender interference. Many of the fans around meby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 5, Quinnipiac 3 (postgame) - 16 years ago
Much needed win for the team. I though Devin, Mugford, and Seminoff played fabulous today, Krantz on the other hand was not as impressive. I think we have two very winnable games next weekend- look forward to seeing you guys there.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Princeton Postgame - 16 years ago
Goaltender is the hardest and most individual position to play in all of sports. I think most often, play comes down to confidence and mental focus. All you can ever expect from a goaltender is to put you in a position to win the game. Whether or not Davenport did that last night was debatable the offense certainly had its share of missed opportunities- however two of the three goals he deby Doug '08 - Hockey
Princeton postgame - 16 years ago
Davenport let in 2 extremely soft goals and never appeared to have his head in the game, Scrivens will start tomorrow. This team is still struggling desperately to move the puck out of its own zone. Everyone’s timing seems off… especially on breakouts. There were bits and pieces of the game the team played well, but I am skeptical this team has the talent to compete on a nightly basis withoutby Doug '08 - Hockey

CollegeHockeyAddictKeithKCollegeHockeyAddictHi Cornell fans, I will be visiting Lynah for the first time this Saturday. I have heard alot of great things about the atmosphere at Lynah so I'm definitely looking forward to the game. I enjoy meeting other fans so if anybody wants to say hi to me please do. I will be wearing a white signed Gopher hockey jersey so I should be pretty easy to pickby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RIT postgame - 16 years ago
It seems that in general the Cornell fanbase is deteriorating. I have gotten to watch it first hand over my four years here... each season, each game, each road trip seems slightly less impressive than the one before it. To a certain extent I blame the fans, however athletics really needs to make it easier for students without cars to get to games. While winning cures all ills, this is probablby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-RIT postgame - 16 years ago
Just got back from the game. This team will have a lot to work on if we even want to be competitive in the ECAC. Puck movement is terrible, especially among our defensemen in our own zone. Power play was absolutely atrocious. Team played with absolutely no energy until halfway through the third period.by Doug '08 - Hockey

Jim HylaDoug '08My tickets are in GA3, which I was told is in the middle of the Cornell section OK, but I can't find that on their seating chart. There are 100 and 200 level sections. Yeah, I can't either, and I'm sure I'm reading the ticket correctly. I just checked the bluecrossarena website, and they were advertising tickets as all being General Admission, so that must be what the GA stanby Doug '08 - Hockey

Re: Ottawa Postgame - 16 years ago
First off, while this is certainly a feel good win for our team, it’s tough to critically evaluate play when the opposition is that bad. Not only were they slow and unskilled, but as a whole they had terrible hockey sense and didn’t have the faintest clue how to play defense. That being said, I think our top line played well although Sawada needs to get more involved, ideally he should be banby Doug '08 - Hockey
Trois Rivieres Postgame - 16 years ago
Pretty embarrassing performance tonight. UQTR was definitely a better team than I expected, although there is absolutely no reason why we couldn’t have won that game by 3 or more goals. In fact, I only counted 3 quality scoring chances for us all game. These guys were definitely a bush-league team, shooting after the whistle, looking for fights at every opportunity. It is pretty clear that thby Doug '08 - Hockey

Roy 82calgARI '07Murray beat the crap out of Rypien tonight and it totally changed the complexion of the game in San Jose's favor. The fight is now up for viewing. I would agree with the assessment of "beat the crap out of" unless you don't like the sweater over the head trick: Rypien never had a chance in that oneby Doug '08 - Hockey

evilnaturedrobotDoug '08 Brendon on the otherhand, as JDeafv mentioned, spent the game in the pressbox and chatting with Ken Dryden. Dryden actually spent the second time block (seems silling to call it a period) signing autographs and shaking hands at the extreme right of section A. Meeting him was a thrill, and he was everybit as nice and well spoken as his reputation would imply. He tookby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Retired Number - 16 years ago
redicereilly83White #25 was worn at the red/white scrimage tonight, which made me wonder: Has anyone heard anything about whether there are still plans to retire Nieuwendyk's number this fall? Has the idea just been quietly dropped? Does anyone know who was wearing that #25 tonight? It was not identified on the rosters provided to the public. 25 was being worn by one of the club players.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - 16 years ago
I was not impressed by Nash either. He didn't seem to have the faintest idea what to do on his PP shift, and 5 on 5 he seemed hesitant to get too involved in the action, especially along the boards. As we all know, he could really benefit from bulking up. He did show flashes of his stick skills on one possession when he was carrying it into the zone, although the play was bitter-sweet as his lby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Red-White Scrimmage - 16 years ago
Team looked very rough around the edges, as is usual for the red white game. There didn't seem to be any distinct lines or defensive pairings, as Schafer mixed them up all game it seemed. Contrary to years past, the teams were fairly balanced and play got physical along the boards at times. Of all the newcomers, I must say Mike Devin impressed me the most with his hockey sense and seemed to beby Doug '08 - Hockey

Re: Ticket Numbers and Camp Out - 16 years ago
Yeah I was pretty surprised at the way people picked seats this year... I guess everyone has a different preference for how they'd like to see a hockey game. Overall the "line" was identical to last year, band and team came in last night for a while and mingled with the fans.by Doug '08 - Hockey
