Re: "There's a hole in your sock, Joe Grossman" - 16 years ago
LaJollaRedHi everyone-- Thank you so much for the great laughs this season. I hope we have more fun to come as the team moves into the playoffs. The Grossman song: The backup goalie for 'Mouth had two holes in his right sock behind his leg pad. Being me, I noticed it. The song, a lá Elysiah, was this: There's a HOLE in your sock, Joe Grossman, Joe Grossman! There's a hole in your sock Iby Doug '08 - Hockey

IwilldunkonyouHey at least they go to road games and those two guys were louder than the student sections, not even that stupid cowbell inspired anyone. Ok I'll bite... you must have been that obnoxious fan in the middle of B tonight who my buddy almost strangled.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd 3 @ Cornell 1 Postgame - 16 years ago
IwilldunkonyouDoug 08... worst effort youve seen this year? this must be the first game youve seen in person then, must not make it out of Ithaca all that often. Who exactly will you "dunk on"... I'm guessing you were one of the two shirtless Harvard fans in O?by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd 3 @ Cornell 1 Postgame - 16 years ago
This was the worst effort I have seen from the team this year except for the @ Union game. There is no way we win a series on the road thereby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Forget the Fish - 16 years ago
The players enjoy it, and feed off the intensity. I am not going to "site my sources" on a message board such as this, but if you are so inclined, feel free to email me or message me as I know most of the players personally. Then again, thats probably not appropriate message board material either.by Doug '08 - Hockey

Thought the game played out exactly like the first meeting last month. That, and no one on the ice simply cared whether or not we won.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence post-game - 16 years ago
daredevilcuJim, hate to say this, but you lost all your credibility when you started throwing things at Clarkson band members. Sorry. EDIT: I should also note that you should certainly know better, and I really expected more class from you. Then again, I don't know why, as you're constantly self-righteous and accusatory even when I'm producing very logical arguments as to why it isn't a terby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence post-game - 16 years ago
A penalty will only be called if the coach complains to the ref, and after a warning the band still doesn't stop. That being said, calling out the other band or fans for noise is considered pretty taboo.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: St. Lawrence post-game - 16 years ago
I wouldn't exactly call it a standing ovation. The St. Lawrence fans were shouting for Cornell to go home while one squirrelly student banged on the notorious obnoxious drum.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 at Colgate 1 postgame thread - 16 years ago
There won't be a bus for the games, the only CHA bus trips done lately have been to rochester and hamilton. It's a shame though, because Clarkson/SLU are only 4 hours away and along with Colgate are my two favorite places to see an ECAC game. Definitely the most fun road trip of the year. Hope to see at least a few students there, it seems the notorious traveling fan base has been limitedby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 at Colgate 1 postgame thread - 16 years ago
A hard fought weekend, great 4 points. Both games could have gone either way, especially last night when we were outplayed for most of the third period. PK is still the strength of this team and did an excellent job. Throught Scrivens played well although he will certainly want to have that one goal back. Good to see Davenport back in the lineup, surprised to see him dressing as a forwarby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Brown at Cornell postgame - 16 years ago
I guess this game was what most of expected. Played out similarly to the first meeting, although I thought Brown was a much more physical team in Providence. Good to see the power play actually moving the puck and getting chances. I like 4 forwards on the top unit, I'm surprised Schafer hasn't used that more this year. Scrivens is going to need to step his game up against Yale, though, lastby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: BROWN Pregame. What can it do for you? - 16 years ago
I certainly expect and hope for another 4 point weekend as well against these teams. Yale played us well last time around, and Cornell was able to put in its best game of the year in a performance- an all around complete effort where aspects of the game were working correctly, and Scrivens losing the shutout in the final seconds to make the score 2-1 was not at all representative of the play.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Union Postgame - 16 years ago
The infrastructure is in place for Cornell to be a perennial top ten team. I know that is Schafer’s goal and should be realistic at this point. If Schafer wants to stick to the tried and true grind it out style of game, recruiting needs to be done accordingly. Otherwise, I’d like to see players develop on the other end of the ice as well. I do realize that this is a rebuilding year andby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Union Postgame - 16 years ago
This team is not going anywhere. Disgraceful performance this weekend. I thought Cornell was lucky to come away with the win at RPI and even though both teams played horrible on Saturday, Union was clearly the better team for that 60 minutes. And when our top line is a minus 2 for the night, we will lose almost every time. I thought Nash and Greening both had their worst weekends of the year.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Mike Kennedy - ECAC Player of the Week - 16 years ago
lynah80I think most people would agree that his line mates are a big part of his recent success. Topher is a great play maker and Ray's scoring threat certainly complement Mike's skills nicely. I'd have to disagree on this one...by Doug '08 - Hockey

Re: 1/5: Cornell 4, Niagara 3 Postgame - 16 years ago
I don't think the team played all that well. Well enough to win, obviously, which is what counts. The power play was still terrible, and the sloppy transition play and "average" amount of hustle won't get it done against ECAC opponents. We benefited from playing against a very cold goaltender and extremely slow defensemen- Riley Nash was LITERALLY skating circles around them. I kby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6, Niagara 0 Postgame - 16 years ago
ebilmes Riley Nash's goal in the 3rd period...amerks127 remarked that it was the "easiest goal ever." Riley was staring at a wide open net, fumbled the puck for a couple seconds, and was still staring at a wide open net when he finally let off a shot. Yeah he had enough time to read the paper, have a cup of coffee, and probably a quick smoke (not to mention bringing the puck around oby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 6, Niagara 0 Postgame - 16 years ago
I'd have to say Niagara was the slowest team we've seen all year. They were constantly out of position and their forwards don't seem to like the idea of blocking shots, or playing defense at all for that matter... Looks like Schafer liked the lines he used at Florida, enough for one more week at least. No lineup surprises either. Its always great to get a decissive win like that, but Iby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Florida Hockey Classic post-game - 16 years ago
billhowardsah67billhowardThen when Cornell scored in the second period and came back 15 seconds later to apparently take a 2-1 lead except the referees ruled the whistle (for a UML penalty) had already blown. We were on the far side of the rink and couldn't see if UML's goalie had relaxed or if the shot had beaten him regardless. I'm still confused about this one. I too was in the Cornell fanby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Florida Hockey Classic post-game - 16 years ago
I think the ref blew the whistle because he lost track of the puck, I saw him look to the linesmen who had no clue where the puck was either.by Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 v. Clarkson 3 (FL College Classic) OT Final - 16 years ago
ebilmesTownieFive breakaways in regulation...in one game?! I recall several breakaways/odd man rushes in the BU game as well. Being prone to breakaways + mediocre goaltending = If Scrivens had only been mediocre, he wouldn't have still had a shutout 5 minutes into the third period. I couldn't believe the number of breakaways Clarkson had. There was one stretch in which Clarkson had two 1xby Doug '08 - Hockey
This team will remain mediocre... - 16 years ago
Until major changes are made on the powerplay. 1-12 this weekend against some very pedestrian PK efforts is main reason we come home with 1 point. To make things worse, the one goal came on a Clarkson miscue 5x3 which led to a Clarkson defender out of position and screening Potter. Krantz has the hardest slapshot on the team, I'd like to see him use it. I'd like to see Seminoff take advaby Doug '08 - Hockey

Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
redhair34evilnaturedrobotI'd like to see a replay, but I recall it going in off a stick. Regardless, the fact is that the puck deflected off an object (stick, jersey, it really doesn't matter) that was positioned to the right of and behind Scrivens, who had squared to the shooter on his left. Now, the spectacular save would have been to have reached out to his rightand deflected that wide sby Doug '08 - Hockey
Re: BU Postgame - 16 years ago
The game was lost in the first period, obviouslly. That was perhaps the worst period of hockey I have seen Cornell play in my 4 years here... to be honest I thought we were lucky to just be down 3-0. Cornell just did not come to play.by Doug '08 - Hockey
