Re: Dryden on the NHL's need to address concussions. - 12 years ago
Dafatone Kyle Rose Dafatone I'm torn. I'm really starting to wince when I see guys get whacked in the head in fights, but on the other hand, there's something to be said for players policing the game. That being said, I don't really see how my big goon fighting your big goon helps protect my star after he gets slashed by your small goon. I think the root of the problem is the moral hazard ofby ftyuv - Hockey

ajh258 Jim Hyla ajh258 A solid effort in the first 30 minutes; Andy Iles comes through again with another impressive performance. The guys looked tired on the larger sheet, and the altitude was definitely a factor. I'll be happy if it ends up being a split tomorrow. Ya mean you're going to be sad if it's not a split.Good one. Re: Sports phrases - enough, already - 12 years ago
Oh, and because I'm a hockey purist, I'll throw in the worst sports phrase ever: Worst sports phrase ever We're going to a shootout! The other phrases mentioned here have earned their spot by being meaningless, or so nebulous as to be essentially meaningless. This one earns its spot because I know exactly what it means, and Idon'tlikeit!by ftyuv - John Spencer Is Dead

css228 Josh '99 MotherPucker Imagine going to an NHL game and seeing teams with four excellent lines all running at full tilt... 60 minutes of great hockey not marred by fights and senseless Sean Avery type stupidity. The bottom 5% of players in The NHL only serve one purpose and it isn't their skills with a puckSean Avery has never been suspended for an on-ice incident. He's an agitator, surby ftyuv - Hockey

jkahn Colin Greening got a fighting major tonight at the end of regulation. He had bumped into Ryan Miller trying to get around the back of the net chasing Christian Erhoff, and Erhoff took exception and started swinging. Greening would've spent the entire five minute overtime in the penalty box, but his stay was shortened by the Senators' winning goal. Greening also had an assist tonight. Andby ftyuv - Hockey
Re: What makes a great/bad college hockey jersey? - 12 years ago
I actually like Maine's a lot -- the two-tone blues work for me. I also like BC's a lot. I don't know if I can list the attributes of what makes it good or bad, though. Hockey sweaters are like porn in that regard.by ftyuv - Hockey
Re: lles is not the answer - 12 years ago
ugarte Jim Hyla Adam's article on Iles in the NY Hockey Journal. (via ECAC site) "Iles was 4-years-old when Jason Elliott backstopped Cornell to an ECAC championship..." Did everyone hear my bones creak or is it all in my head? You can still hear?!by ftyuv - Hockey

Trotsky Kyle Rose KeithK The "it's the system" line has been an ongoing joke here for years and years. It's a safe bet that anytime you see "it's the system" on this forum without any further explanation it's sarcastic. Typical. Jerk. I wish we had a "like" button for posts like this.by ftyuv - Hockey

Ben Jeff Hopkins '82 Larry72 Boys and girls - let's NOT get ahead of ourselves. It's a long season. One game at a time! Niagara on Tuesday. "We need to take one game at a time. I just want to do what's necessary to help the team. Etc. etc." We have to go out there, play our game, do what we do, execute, make plays, and focus. For those of us for whom John Harvard's is a no-go, where are people thinking of going instead? Christopher's in Porter Square may be a good option, as it's right next to the T that's one stop away from Harvard. Hong Kong in Harvard is another option, though I haven't actually been there for anything other than scorpion bowls -- is the food there any good? I'd be down for Charlie's Kitchen,by ftyuv - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the pros: November 2011 - 12 years ago
Scrivens gets yanked with 4:45 left in the 2nd -- Bruins are up 5-0. A couple of those were Scrivens just getting an unlucky night, because Seguin is on fire. But he also let one in 5-hole that was a bit questionable, and the fifth goal was basically from a bad rebound. The first goal of the night was on a PP where you can't really blame Scrivens, though I have seen goalies make that kind of a saby ftyuv - Hockey

Kyle Rose Robin How is the Pizzaria Uno setup? Can't recall what it is like inside the Harvard location. I honestly can't recall: I forgot the place was even there. I think the last time I was in there must have been close to ten years ago. The ground floor has some booths on the right as you come in, and then a back section with around 10ish tables.
