Polls and Such 11/19

Tied at 10th on PairWise. Last time we were this high up was probably 2007-08 (not really sure about this). If we beat Niagara on Tuesday and BU on Saturday, I'm going to throw the biggest afterparty in NYC.

Edit: I might be thinking 05-06.

If I remember correctly during the 2008-2009 season we did not lose a game until after Thanksgiving when we played North Dakota. After splitting with them I think we had another long winning streak. I believe we were first in the early PWR due to not have any losses and we even received a few 1st place votes in the USCHO poll due to that high ranking.

Just let's keep it simple and not try to get too fancy. We need to get pucks on net and bodies in front of their goalie.

Technically, that's only for pre-season polls, but I don't think we've had the annual posting this year.

Still too early for the results of a given weekend to have much impact. Voters are still stuck in their preconceived notions of how to rank the teams. Sometime around mid season they'll really start paying attention to results. And then they'll just align to the Pairwise.

Two interesting notes from the USCHO poll:

For the first time in its history, Merrimack is the top-ranked team in the USCHO.com Division I Men’s Poll.

In a side note, North Dakota did not receive any votes this week, ending a streak of 223 straight USCHO.com Division I Men’s Polls in which the Sioux received votes.

Good point. I really don't care how the team does at any other point in the season if they're 2-0 in April.
