Re: regionals - watching in Boston - Sports Depot in Allston - 19 years ago
channel 657 is one of the alternate feeds, and that will be active on thursday after 5 pm mst (men's DII basketball). channel 658 is another alternate feed, the one that will be carrying the game. IIRC, the woman at Altitude said that 658 won't be active until friday night. However, if the bar is getting one alternate feed (i.e 657 on thursday), chances are pretty good they will get the other.by Rita - Hockey

Re: tv info from altitude. - 19 years ago
Hi.. I spoke with Charlotte Boxsteller (sp?) from Altitude today. I was quite impressed with Altitude's response time, the two people i left messages with called me back within 90 minutes. This is what I understood from her, but not having satellite tv in all, i apologize in advance if i get the terminology wrong. Re: Altitude: Contact number - 19 years ago
Hi... I found this phone number on the website. I have only talked to machines, no humans yet. but I left a message stating at this point they are the only hope that cornell fans across the country have of seeing this game. 303.405.1100, ask for the altitude entertainment network. however, if more people called....... I'll give my 0.02 cents to cornell athletics tomorrow morning....by Rita - Hockey

in order to get an early start on next season PWR gripes , in the long run if we play umd it should help us (win, loss or draw) since we will then have connection to the mighty whca in the "opponents-opponents" rpi component. However, we would likely get maine or northeastern as a first round game since they probably won't (and shouldn't) match up 2 HE opponents for a NC game.by Rita - Hockey
Re: Pep Band to Minnesota - 19 years ago
Hi Lauren... Since I cannot make it to minnesota, I will put a $20.00 check in the mail on Tuesday to help with the trip. Let's go red!!! Rita ps.. let me know if you start a "Pep band to estero" road trip fund. It would be nice if the band could go to the everblades tourney, even if it once every 3-4 yrs.by Rita - Hockey
Re: complain to CU to get this game on TV - 19 years ago
I wonder if that is due to the women's frozen four final. that game is scheduled at 4 pm est st. lawrence-harvard winner vs. minnesota-dartmouth winner. fyi....according to the uscho website, those games will be available via webcastby Rita - Hockey
Re: complain to CU to get this game on TV - 19 years ago
Hi I just called cornell sports information and asked what they were doing to make sure the game got picked up by a network accessible via direct tv. The person wasn't sure if he could do anything. I suggested that Cornell get together with OSU and work with one of the Fox regional networks to pick up the game and emphasize the strong fan base that Cornell hockey has across the country who wantby Rita - Hockey
Re: minnesota it is - 19 years ago
i just think "last 20 (16) should be *one* of the factors... some of the pwr are determined by early season NC games, which don't always reflect how a team is at the end of the season. it appears that those early nov. nc games do weight more heavily than any of the ones we played in march. in addition, we get hurt by what our opponents did (didn't) do in early november (see prior posts aboby Rita - Hockey
Re: minnesota it is - 19 years ago
this is why i think they need to factor in record over the last 20. If you are a young team, a team that starts late, or just take some time coming together as a team, you can really be screwed by aggressively scheduling tough NC games and taking hits on the PWR. also, you don't have much control over who your common opponents schedule for NC games. being "penalized" because one ofby Rita - Hockey

john buccigross... nhl-2-nite host.. i caught that tooo.... I guess i'm not as worked up about the cc-du issue.. considering that we were in CC's situation two years ago. given the # of times that cc and du have played this year, they are clearly evenly matched, with denver having 3-2 record head-to-head. in this case the teams have decided their ranking on the ice over 5 games. i was aby Rita - Hockey

but there is some comfort in that... we know them, and they know us as well. too bad minnesota has to host the party. i'm all in favor of moving it to estero....by Rita - Hockey
Re: minnesota it is - 19 years ago
i caught the end of the bill-fishing on espn2.. on right before the selection show, and i was thinking if cornell had lost 29% of its games and the last 2 games of the ecachl tourney the cornell coaching staff would be looking into fishing charters and tee times, not basking in the glow of a #1 seed. I hope after this the committee will consider making record in the last 20 (16) one of the cby Rita - Hockey

Re: Heres to hoping for staying East - 19 years ago
so, how does the committee adjust the "double secret mystery points" so that minnesota isn't a #1 seed? a #1 seed with 14 overall losses, over 25% of their games (they played 41 games).... that just is ugly. I just have a hard time believing that the computer algorithms allow this to happen, and i could accept being a #2 seed if minnesota wasn't a #1. anxiously awaiting the committee'by Rita - Hockey
Re: NCAA Seeding Speculation - 19 years ago
i found the answer to my previously posed question. record in the last 16 games (not 20) was discontinued in 2003.by Rita - Hockey
Re: NCAA Seeding Speculation - 19 years ago
also posted under the PWR updates thread, but seems more appropriate here. sorry for the duplication.... I remember back quite a few years ago when your record in the last 20 games was taken into account as well. John, or someone else, can you tell me when "record in the last 20 games" was taken out of the mix?. Anyway, it just doesnt seem fair that cornell who went 18 Wins - 1 lossby Rita - Hockey

Re: fighting sioux-gophers -sat 3.19 - 19 years ago
Sounds like the sioux are really banged up (sorry, i'm just half listening, but one of their players got hit from behind last night, the offending du player has been suspended for tonight's game), and since they have a nc$$ spot all but guaranteed (and from what i gather somewhere between a 5-9), they may just take the attitude to get out without anymore injuries. however, i hope a battle with boby Rita - Hockey
