Re: Nieuwendyk - 10 years ago
I've seen him two of the last three summers at Lynah at the ice hockey camp, including last year. The home that his family owns in Ithaca has not showed up as sold as far as I can see from publicly available real estate sites. Best guess is his family still owns the home.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros May 2013 - 10 years ago
ugarte Beeeej Greening just scored the 2OT game-winner for the Sens on a rebound to make the series 2-1 Penguins. Gritty, hard work. Show of hands if you were hoping to be the one to post this. (I knew I was too late.)I wanted to be the first to post this: Greening has pieces of fiberglass removed from his faceby RatushnyFan - Hockey

I thought he looked good all game. Great job of controlling rebounds and getting passes off to his teammates, including the point, for scoring chances. He's doing a great job.by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Alumni in the Pros May 2013 - 10 years ago
Reimer looked exceptional in games 5 and 6. I thought he made some world class saves. Even with the game 7 debacle his save % was 0.923, same as Tuukka Rask's and overall a decent figure. I thought he was under a lot of pressure and made some great saves to help push a game 7 in a series they had no business winning.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Can Cornell match the H/Y/P packages "in general" or they can only match a specific package made to a player? Sounds like there's room for gamesmanship, e.g. if Harvard knows that a kid really wants to go to Cornell, just deny admission so there's no package to match.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

P.S. A friend sent me a story about Cayuga lake being drained this year on April 1st. I am proud to say that I did not fall for it! http://www.fingerlakes.com/news/3-finger-lakes-to-be-drainedby RatushnyFan - John Spencer Is Dead

Did people actually believe the Sidd Finch SI story? I remember reading it and thinking it was preposterous. Wasn't there a picture of him playing a french horn? Reference to pitching something like 150 mph. Come on, folks.by RatushnyFan - John Spencer Is Dead

Douglas Murray's hit on Brian Boyle last night was a beauty. Boyle is big boy and he went flying. Rangers announcers raved about his strength. This was the first time I've seen him play for the Penguins, I thought he looked pretty good. 20 minutes of ice time. -1 but the goal against was a shot right off a faceoff win for the Rangers........even if he had quick feet it wouldn't have made a diby RatushnyFan - Hockey

We're all victims of circumstances, right? That said Lenny's 2002-2003 #s look a little better than Hartzell's. Re. 80 points, Jeff Panzer had 81 points for UND the year that Ryan Miller won (UND was 29-8-9 in 2000-01). Perhaps the fact that Miller had just won the award two years prior biased voters against Lenny. Miller is only the second goalie ever to win the Hobey. Perhaps Hartzell'sby RatushnyFan - Hockey

css228Willing to try that's easy. He's unemployed and he's said he wants to continue to coach. Two who's the best player Schafer has produced? Murray? Easiy take Matt Carle over that.Best college player during his tenure, probably, unless you want to pick Lenny. But I think that Greening and Moulson will go down as better pros.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Iginla traded to Pittsburgh.........wow. Douglas is in a nice situation, on paper at least. Hope it works out, he deserves a Cup and so does Iginla. Can't believe that Shero has pulled off deals for Iginla, Morrow and Murray.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros: March 2013 - 11 years ago
Any else surprised that SJ got a 2103 2nd pick and either a 2nd or 3rd round pick for 2014? His ice time has been falling and his role has changed the last couple of years. He seems like a 5th defenseman now, big and valuable, but two reasonably high high draft picks? IMO this is a good trade for San Jose, I'd be surprised if anyone else was offering a comparable package (it's understood thatby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Maybe he was mad that Bui is 26? I'm not, I figure the kid just wants to play hockey. I'd probably have done it too if I was good enough. Rand is a good guy, I didn't see it but I hope he at least congratulated him and his team before he left. I'm a big Schafer fan but what exactly did Rand do other than win?by RatushnyFan - Hockey
Re: Quarterfinals at Q - 11 years ago
Q had the rare double major up on the board..........a 10 minute penalty. That was the worst Cornell game I've ever seen. Period. The one game I get to go to this year, bummer.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Ben Towerroad TimV Trotsky Schadenfreude is an anagram for Schafer End Due. Wow. That surprised me. Realistically, to be replaced by who? Doug Darraugh? Would Union's Coach jump? And you must kill at Scrabble. I have to believe that Cornell could attract a quality coach. Darraugh has done an outstanding job with the women's program.
