Michigan is not bad.............they always have a lot of speed and talent. They haven't come together yet, they have a young roster and the goaltending doesn't seem as good as normal (two freshman goalies but we all know that they usually have very good goalie recruits - I think they lost their top goalie recruit to the juniors this year). Their performance versus RIT and Northern Michigan isby RatushnyFan - Hockey

TheMatrixEsposito, just like the Red-White game, always seems to always know where to be to intercept the puck. Unfortunately for him, he always seemed to be in the zone alone without too many quality looks. Should be excellent on the forecheck and generate lots of chances. Totally unselfish playing from him. What about Craig Esposito, did he play this past weekend? Huge kid, seems like a greatby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Youth hockey still allows a hand pass in the defensive zone to my knowledge. I'm guessing that junior hockey still allows hand passes in the defensive zone as well. Strange decision regardless of your views on newbies.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

The Boston Globe article has a little more meat on the bone. Shagging in the penalty box The most dangerous (albeit unsubstantiated) is that Parker knew what happened at the 2009 national championship party and seemingly handled it in-house versus a more official process. I would think that would be difficult to justify, even for a coaching legend/AD.by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Starting to look like a career AHLer based on his numbers and the depth they have at center. Probably a make or break year for him (unless that was last year). Hope he has a great season and gets a legitimate shot. Otherwise, please send him to the Devils, we like defensive minded forwards and I will personally pay Cam Janssen's salary to have him sit and give someone with talent (ideally someby RatushnyFan - Hockey

It doesn't count when you're outshot 35-14, your team name is the Braves, your conference is gone and you last made the NCAAs 10 years ago. Just being flippant of course, thank you for reminding me of this tune-up game!by RatushnyFan - Hockey

RichHSince I'm fond of non-car transportation for hockey trips, I just learned that Amtrak does service Lake Placid (bus transfer off the Adirondack route from Westport), so one could travel from NYC or Albany without a car. But you lose the fun of getting a ticket if you drive 36 MPH on Rt 73. Crowne Plaza has a decent bar with a nice view and the rink is just a stumble down a (huge) hill....by RatushnyFan - Hockey

Thread drift...........two of my boys went to Cornell hockey camp this past week. Espo is still in an air cast, he did not skate all week (with the kids at least). High ankle sprain, right? Obviously takes a long time to heal fully, must be frustrating for him. Topher Scott was there. He was very enthusiastic with the kids (and the parents!). Re: New recruit - 11 years ago
There are 4 AAA franchises for youth in the Upstate NY area that I'm aware of, the Syracuse Nationals, Buffalo Regals, Buffalo Saints and Rochester Alliance. These teams aren't great, more middle of the pack for most birth years. See AAA Hockey Rankings - 1999. Even on a mediocre AAA team there can be some standouts. I was at the NAPS tourney in Buffalo this past weekend and I saw two Upstaby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Adam, I for one prefer Lake Placid. Maybe it's just you and me and a few others. I get gouged there for kids hockey tournaments and I still love it. It has a lot of charm and I like the rink, the restaurants, etc. I'm fairly close to Bridgeport in Northern NJ but I'll take LP any day. I'm shocked at Q's rink capacity, I've been there and I would have guessed that it's much larger. It's ceby RatushnyFan - Hockey

Coaches in the pros? Dan Ratushny's Straubing Tigers improved by 13 points and finished in 6th place (2012 DEL Standings versus 2011 DEL Standings). They were second to last in 2011. Nice job Dan......by RatushnyFan - Hockey

I thought Bitz deserved 1 game, it was a mistake and needs to be punished. How on earth did Weber not get 3-4 games? There's no other conclusion than there's a different standard for star players in the playoffs. I'm a big Brendan Shanahan fan, I think he's a straightforward guy without an agenda. He works out at my gym and his kid plays at the same rink as mine, I know him a little bit. I aby RatushnyFan - Hockey
