Re: Could Cornell be a host team? - 15 years ago
More importantly, what can a small group of highly interested alums with no connection to the athletic department do to encourage Cornell to put together a bid? Is it a money thing? If we made it and the regional was in Syracuse, Binghamton, etc., attendance would be no issue and you'd pretty much guarantee a break even, if not an overall profit. Dang. They're still not offering shipping, are they? If this weren't the most difficult time to get away from work, I'd be there myself. Maybe next year.by Winnabago - Hockey
Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (11/24) Ticket Info - 16 years ago
Something is very wrong with this event. No tickets left through official channels, yet none available secondhand (except for a few choice Stubhub listings). I'd imagine there is a massive block still left to be released on day of or sooner. New York craigslist shows about 15 people looking, maybe one selling. What is a fan to do even the scalpers don't have any?by Winnabago - Hockey
Re: Reminder: Lynah East tix tomorrow AM - 16 years ago
Just got back from Murr. They announced it officially sold out at about 25 after 10. On their screens, red means completely sold and yellow means it's in someone's shopping cart. There are undoubtedly going to be a few tickets available online as browser sessions crash and whatnot, but it looked like it was pretty full - 99.9% red. What gets me is that there is no benefit to going there in peby Winnabago - Hockey
Re: game-worn question - 17 years ago
WillWinnabagoWhat time of year are they generally available? The FAQ doesn't mention it, I always thought it was at the beginning of the season, around Red/White, but there have been a few posts lately about purchases made now. If I can go the next time I'm in Ithaca, that would be good news. Generally, they become available once the new jerseys arrive, and thus the old jerseys are no longeby Winnabago - Hockey

Re: Davenport Leaves for NHL - 17 years ago
ebilmesThe Sun broke the story today: The forum's at eLynah were already buzzing with speculation over who will fill Davenports place in the net. Looks like it was so funny that they took their entire server offline. Joke's on us.by Winnabago - Hockey
Re: Yale Roll Call - 17 years ago
I'm sure this question gets asked every year, but does Yale typically sell tickets at the door? I wouldn't want to drive the 3 1/2 and get shut out. Got my pair for Brown already (they are GA this year after trying to assign seats for our group past seasons).by Winnabago - Hockey

Tub(a) The RBC Center is just a joke of a selection. I guess it was "tailgating" that kept the Hurricanes from selling out Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Certainly such devoted fans wouldn't miss out on a hockey experience like that Don't forget about the Cup banner raising ceremony at the first game this year - great seats are always available at RBC.by Winnabago - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs Harvard @ Bright on sale October 4, 2006 @ 10AM EST - 17 years ago
Just got a return fax from the office - they did get me two SRO tickets - turns out ordering by fax kinda worked after all. Mike over there was very nice, exceptionally nice actually. He said I would have gotten seats if their fax machine was closer to their desks and they saw it sooner. Just wanted to report back to everyone. The phone never worked for me, calling between meetings this morby Winnabago - Hockey

Jason Lanyone not get tickets? maybe post if you had been trying all day and didnt get any...someone is bound to have extras since everyone purchased 4 Judging by the phone still being busy - many haven't gotten through. Re: Schafer's jersey number? - 17 years ago
Willhttp://www.tbrw.info/cornellHistory/unis.html Schafer was #12 in the 1982-83 season, and #3 for the rest of his years. I had never seen this chart before. Very interesting to see the 'life of a number' over the years. I do laugh as I think of Kyle Knopp wearing 6 one year, and then Doug Murray squeezing into it the next.by Winnabago - Hockey

Re: [OT] playing hockey in the Boston area - 17 years ago
I'm in the same boat, it the past, I would try to find a few guys at a skate n shoot session who knew what was up in the area, or if I was lucky, there would be a scrimmage going on. Nowadays, though, rinks don't like to do this (insurance reasons, I guess), so you really have to find someone who rents time regularly, or a league. Re: Has there ever been an African American Cornell player? - 18 years ago
rediceThe Rancorwere you thinking of harvard alum mike grier's goal last night in the buffalo game? i remember him well. like a skating linebacker. I believe Mike Grier is a BU alum. Correct? Mike and Chris Drury played on the same line at BU, and they frequently are paired C/LW in Buffalo (much was said by the talking heads about their matchup with Forsberg-Gagne.)by Winnabago - Hockey

Re: How crazy would this have been? - 18 years ago
Liz '05JerseygirlTo continue this completely absurd topic, would Louis get to keep his goalie skates or have to switch to regular ones? I ask because I used to work with a former Cornell goalie who was so used to skating in goalie skates for the last decade, he literally couldn't skate on regular hockey skates. So there's that aspect to consider. I didn't realize there was a difference - care tby Winnabago - Hockey

RichH...Elliott's save on Bitz in the 2nd was sick, and he just got better from there.... Great summary, it was what I was thinking all night as I was otherwise trying to get to sleep. Dragon Day - 18 years ago
Just wanted to request that anyone who was going to be on campus (and not in Albany ) could consider snapping and posting a few pics of the Dragon and event on friday. I have some fond memories and it's hard to follow from out of town. It would make an old architect's day. Together with a win of course.by Winnabago - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Jersey Question - 18 years ago
TShenRatushnyFankroseI'm going to talk to Bill Reynolds after the season is over and see if he would be willing to (and is able to) order extra sweaters when the team makes their order. Cool. Let me know. I'll order as well. Could be a profit center for them!! You'd think it wouldn't be this hard to get a real jersey. Well, Cornell has a purchasing department(http://www.purchasing.cornell.eby Winnabago - Hockey
Re: Jersey Question - 18 years ago
CowbellGuyPSP has nothing to do with the stuff the team wears. Also, keep in mind that until a few years ago, these things would sit up in Teagle's attic for years with lots of other game-used gear until someone asked to see them. That $100 price tag was probably some arbitrary number they came up with to help recover some of the cost. This mad rush for every available jersey is a very new phenomby Winnabago - Hockey
Re: Jersey Question - 18 years ago
I have a simple question after reading all of this. Do the blanks from Bauer or Nike come with the Cornell lettering already, or does PSP of Ithaca do this for them as well? If so, then a blank must be available for 'stitch on demand' or some similar program. There are so many custom blanks covering so many D1/D3/ECHL/etc. teams in the nation, perhaps there is a stockpile somewhere? I guessby Winnabago - Hockey
