Calling "Sheep in the Big City" unwatchable gives that awful cartoon far too much credit.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Over 10 wins ni the Ivy League - 22 years ago
Well, if they went 10-2 in the Ivies that ain't bad either.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: The Big Sheet - 22 years ago
Hey CAAB. Welcome back. What could possibly have kept you away for so long? Did AOL cut you off?by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Biting Sun Article - 22 years ago
Ivy league schools are committed to athletics in the best "healthy body/healthy mind" spirit. That means that the schools offer teams in a lot of sports - to ensure broad participation by students rather than a laser-like focus on media-friendly sports to ensure broad entertainment for students and the surrounding community. I like that a lot of people will pick Penn to beat Cal whenby ugarte - Hockey

And you thought the coversation was getting off-topic on the thread about the ACM poll?by ugarte - Hockey
Re: ECAC Semis in NY/NJ - 22 years ago
Word of warning, kids. I am posting from work. I think that should explain why I am not going to be in Lake Placid.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: ECAC picks Grady - 22 years ago
Well of course they picked Grady. Grady Whittenburg is legendary. And the Brown crew was hysterical. I get the feeling that they pace themselves drinking so that they can make it through the game, but it caught up to them when the game went into 2OT. One of the guys called the Harvard team "dirtbags" and accused Mazzoleni of intentionally coaching dirty play.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Hopes for the weekend - 22 years ago
I seem to recall that Dartmouth still calls itself "College" due to provisions in either the college charter or the land grant or some such document that prohibits the school from becoming a "University". Because this is just so much form over substance, it sounds urban-legend like. I don't have a source, so take it with a grain of salt.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Scoreboard - 22 years ago
I guess I could look this up myself, but why is Gastrock getting the nod over Boucher? Has he played that much better?by ugarte - Hockey

It's hardly woofing after the fact, Lowell. If the woofing gods are out, I am Lieutenant Dan in the crow's nest - come and get me!by ugarte - Hockey
Re: We're a damn good ... - 22 years ago
When I meet Tim Taylor, I will give him a "hail fellow well met" and congratulate him on the sporting effort his team put in. Until then, when chatting amongst friends in my own house, Tim Taylor and Yale can go scratch.by ugarte - Hockey

How did Findlay manage to have a non-qualifying schedule when the appear to have played everyone in D-I that we care about?by ugarte - Hockey
Re: We're a damn good ... - 22 years ago
And why are we doing anything "in fairness to Tim Taylor"? I'm much happier just busting on him for having the audacity to pretend he had a chance.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: We're a damn good ... - 22 years ago
They are probably just damn good for a 10th place golf team.by ugarte - Hockey
First round oddities - 22 years ago
All of the top seeds won, and all won in sweeps. Has that ever happened before? It is particularly strange that it happened this year, since all of the home teams in the 3/8, 4/7 and 5/6 games were only 1 point ahead of their opponents in the final league standings. (Can't say I am at all surprised by the Cornell and Clarkson sweeps. But it would have been nice to see another el foldo from theby ugarte - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Brown 'cast? - 22 years ago
So the PIG is Dartmouth - RPI, right? RPI is a TUC, so we can root for an RPI win over Dartmouth, and then another win over RPI. I just don't want to play Dartmouth again. My nerves can't take it. (Though a win over the Green would be soooooo sweet!)by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Harvard-Brown 'cast? - 22 years ago
"Harvard is a very dirty team . . . what a bunch of dirtbags." Very classy call by the Brown crew . . .by ugarte - Hockey

Let me just say . . . LET'S GO RED! Great game, guys. On to Lake Placid, and the next victim.by ugarte - Hockey

1) Not anymore. 2) I think he meant "if we lose, at best, we go 1-2 in the playoffs"by ugarte - Hockey
Re: Scoreboard - 22 years ago
Ratfink! Sure, it is in incredibly poor taste - and probably against all sorts of rules, but it is still pretty funny, and probably exactly what all of Houston Field House was thinking.by ugarte - Hockey

I wouldn't be so sure. His doctor told me . . . oh, nevermind.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: All-Ivy Teams - 22 years ago
I guess I will weigh in with my actual opinion. I think Higgins deserved the award since Lenny was a platoon goalie. I am still surprised that not a single voter disagreed with me, or let Lenny's non-Ivy stats weigh in his favor.by ugarte - Hockey
Re: All-Ivy Teams - 22 years ago
Higgins had a very good season. I still don't understand how he won the ROY vote unanimously when LeNeveu had the best GAA in the NCAA this year.by ugarte - Hockey
