Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Green Bay Regional - 18 years ago
Does anyone know if the band is going? The Cornell ticket office is still working out the details, but they think tickets will go on sale Tuesday (3/21) -- around noon.by Anne 85 - Hockey

What -- did a couple of measly overtime games put you off hockey forever? Wimp.by Anne 85 - Hockey

Re: lines this weekend? - 18 years ago
I'm not sure Seminof is one of the defensemen you want to sit. He seems to have made a lot of progress since the first weekend, when he spent far too much time in the penalty box. At least he showed a spark of life at Dartmouth. Pokulok, on the other hand, hasn't really seemed sharp since he took the DQ at Yale (IMHO). Also, note that Sawada has consistently been on one of the powerplay uniby Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: hahvahd pahking - 18 years ago
Regarding the Business School lot, they usually allow "event" parking. I generally park there and I've rarely had to pay (I've never gotten a permit in advance). But it may be different if you need to park before 5:00 on a weekday. There's also a limited amount of parking on the street near the rink. I attended a figure-skating event at Bright just a few weeks ago, and the lot atby Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 3 @ Brown 2 (OT 11/5) post-game thread - 18 years ago
Well, tonight at least, the defense was missing a few cogs. Pokaluk was out due to the DQ, and Gleed was apparently a last-minute scratch. So, we were skating 5 D-men: O'Byrne, Glover, Krantz, Seminoff, and Davenport. I think we can all agree that's not a dream-team line-up -- at least not this early in the season. Given that Sasha is on the top PP unit, and we were also missing Chris Abboby Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: Lynah Faithful Roll Call: Yale/Brown - 18 years ago
I'll be at Brown for sure and possibly Yale. According to the ticket office recording, Yale will have 200 reserved tickets available before the game (starting at 6:00), plus standing room. I just have to perfect the mannequin that will sit at my desk and pretend to work on Friday afternoon, and I'm all set. Anne '85by Anne 85 - Hockey

The "kill...kill...kill" business makes me think of "Alice's Restaurant" -- you know, when Arlo Guthrie is trying to avoid being drafted. He says (in part): "Kill...kill...I wanna see blood and gore and guts and veins in my teeth...."by Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: Cornell vs. U-18 Team - 18 years ago
I think gametracker is working for me (but it has been a looooong week, so I may be hallucinating). Cornell is ahead 1-0 at the start of the second. Shots in the first were Cor 15 U18 4.by Anne 85 - Hockey

After 4 games, Nieuwendyk is 2nd in points for the Panthers (1 goal, 2 assists). The Panthers play the Bruins (in Florida) on Thursday night (Oct 13).by Anne 85 - Hockey

If you mouse over the red star on these maps, you will see that it indicates the center of the city or town in question (not the rink or any other campus location).by Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: Harvard - 18 years ago
It's a miracle. The tickets for the Feb 18 game vs. Harvard do indeed give a game time of 5:30, as does the schedule that comes with the set of season tickets. But, it's still going to be mighty strange heading for the rink before 5:00 on a Saturday. And I don't like having Harvard as the last home game of the regular season. 2005-06 Season Ticket Renewal Info - 18 years ago
In case you're wondering, the ticket office has been sending out information about renewing season tickets. My form came about a week ago (sorry for the delay in posting). Here's some pertinent information: Sept 8 = deadline for season ticket renewal Sept 20 = upgrade day (to try for better tickets, you have to be there in person, within a specified time window -- e.g., 7:30-8:00 am forby Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: Estero-Nieuwy Trip? - 18 years ago
Attending the Everblades tournament plus the Panthers game on 12/30 sounds like a great idea to me! Is it too soon to start making plans? Perhaps we should wait a bit to ensure that additional trades/roster moves aren't forthcoming. I'm not likely to go out of my way for a Panther's game if there aren't any Cornellians involved. Trotsky, I like that! I'm the equivalent of 25 Gopher fans?! The deaf people who sit near me might like to vote on that. Heading to the airport in T-minus 90 minutes. Anne '85by Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: WHERE TO STAY IN MINN - 19 years ago
I'm also at the Four Points Minneapolis and counting on the shuttle to take me to the rink. Now I just have to figure out how to get to the hotel from the airport.... Anne '85by Anne 85 - Hockey

Re: 2/4: Cornell @ Colgate Postgame - 19 years ago
Since the faceoff was in the defensive zone, I suspect Chris Abbott was on to take a critical faceoff. I've seen Coach make this substitution a number of times in the last few games.by Anne 85 - Hockey

a) Didn't Colgate change names -- from Red Raiders to just Raiders? Should someone inform the Cornell radio announcer? b) Hasn't Silverthorn been around for about a million years?by Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: BU's new rink - 19 years ago
I've heard that BU can serve beer due to a "grandfather clause." Are there really other schools that do so? I know I was very surprised when they had beer at the Cornell/Yale game that was played at the New Haven Coliseum several years ago.by Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: Any Suggestions? - 19 years ago
Did you try Bear Necessities in Collegetown? As I recall, they have a decent selection for children -- they may have one or two hockey-related options. Also, a very cute child-sized shirt was being sold at some of the games last year. I think it had a polar bear with skates and a shirt. Good luck!by Anne 85 - Hockey
Re: McGill - 19 years ago
Warning. Random thought ahead: When I see the heading for this topic, it reminds me of "tea with Miss McGill." Sorry (At least it's a hockey-related quote. Sort of.)by Anne 85 - Hockey
