Re: Northern Michigan News - 4 years ago
Trotsky We should recognize the people who have done great work on Cornell hockey in media. Maybe have a Cornell Hockey Media HOF. Off the top of my head: Roy Ives Grady Whittenburg Art Mintz Thomas Fleischman Adam Wodon Jason Weinstein Tony Eisenhut Brandon Thomas John Whelan Age Manocchia I know it hasn't been very long yet, but you may want to consider adding Topher Scott toby andyw2100 - Hockey

Weder Sweet Melissa's is also very good. (As is Cayuga Lake Creamery if you have time to get up to Interlaken.) There is now a Cayuga Lake Creamery store in the Dewitt Mall in downtown Ithaca. I believe a single scoop cone is about $5. The ice cream is good, but not $5 per scoop good (at least in my opinion.)by andyw2100 - Hockey

KenP How is Purity as compared to the Dairy Bar? I like the ice cream at both Purity and The Dairy Bar. I think the Dairy Bar ice cream is a bit richer and creamier. Oddly, though, I don't think that is true of the Dairy Bar chocolate and chocolate varieties. I generally will order some variety of chocolate when ordering ice cream (Chocolate Bittersweet at Purity) but now won't order any varietby andyw2100 - Hockey

nshapiro Swampy Purity is still Purity Purity is not strictly speaking still Purity. The ice cream is now manufactured by Byrne Dairy Fair point. The ice cream is manufactured by Byrne Dairy, but still uses the Purity recipes (and presumably the Purity ingredients.)by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Trotsky This is the first time we have successfully defended the poll pole position since I've been tracking polls, and I assume since 72 or perhaps 73. According to an email blast sent to season ticket holders today it's actually the first time ever: "For a second straight week, Cornell retains the #1 spot in both the USCHO.com and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls, having lost justby andyw2100 - Hockey

North Dakota and Minnesota State both pulled out late come-from-behind wins tonight. (North Dakota went ahead with just over a minute left in the third and then added an empty-netter, and Minnesota State won in OT.)by andyw2100 - Hockey

Swampy andyw2100 North Dakota down 4-2 to Omaha after 2. 4-3 w/ about 12 min. to go in the 3rd. Audio here: 2:35 remaining. Time Out. Extra attacker as play starts. ENG - 5-3! Another ENG. 6-3, 25 seconds left. And it ends that way! I imagine we should take over first in pairwise.by andyw2100 - Hockey

cu155 Looks like debate over shady Flowrestling subscription tactics is leaking to elynah ....they could make it easier to cancel. I posted at the time I did this, to try to help others, but I canceled literally within a minute of when I bought the subscription. I knew I didn't need it beyond the month, and canceling at purchase time still gave me the month, of course. Edit: My post from earby andyw2100 - Hockey

CU2007 ACM I can deal with a guy who can't keep up with the play. I have a problem with a guy who doesn't read the line chart or the pronunciation guide properly. I mean, they teach reading in what, the second grade these days? Personally I’m enjoying watching Driven and Ragoosh I'm just upset to learn that Galajda is a senior.by andyw2100 - Hockey

French Rage Negatives: - Could have done without the long breaks in play. Were those for commercials? Without the long breaks the number of times FloHockey viewers got to see the Roman commercials may not have made it into triple digits.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Penalty Kill Woes - 4 years ago
I have no data to support the following, as it's just a feeling based on having watched the games, but it seems to me that there have been a lot fewer overlapping penalties than normal. The result of that is that our kill percentage is not being inflated as it usually is by successfully killing a twenty or thirty second penalty. And of course there are the recent five minute major penalties asby andyw2100 - Hockey

Swampy But once I realized it, I also realized I’d have to FF to search for the OSU/Cornell game. While doing so, about midway through and almost an hour before the game, one can hear two commentators discussing what “a pain in the ass” it is to live adjacent to a golf course and how golfers would get pissed when the commentators’ dogs barked. As a dog-owner but non-golfer, I found this more eby andyw2100 - Hockey

According to CHN we are just 2 10,000th of a point behind North Dakota in the pairwise after the win. 1 North Dakota 59 .6549 2 Cornell 58 .6547 Edit: I see Chris beat me to this by a couple of minutes!by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Fortress Invitational - 4 years ago
I also just purchased a month of Flo access. I then immediately looked for a way to prevent the next monthly charge. The way to accomplish this is to cancel your subscription. On the last screen before cancellation it warns that you will lose access after February 3, which is fine. (I just wanted to make sure I wouldn't lose access immediately.) There's no reason not to cancel immediately. Ifby andyw2100 - Hockey

ugarte upprdeck i think flo only does 1 month thing but they might give you back some if you opt out early? flo does not do month to month, I don't think. it's all annual iirc. I'm a subscriber already so I haven't looked at the T&C in a while. I once signed up and they let me off the hook with a prorated rebate but I don't know if they're always that forgiving. Beeeej Jeff Hopkins '82 Beeeej In dss28's and my opinion the Fatburger on the Strip is excellent as far as quick-casual burger places go. For steak, we highly recommend The Steakhouse at Circus Circus; as long as you can stand to walk through the horrible casino floor to get there, it's totally worth it. Any recommendations for good ethnic restaurants, e.g. Thai, Ethiopian, Moroccan, Jamaican,by andyw2100 - Hockey

Trotsky The AD should design an enticement for 6:30. I don't know what The Kids are into these days. Heavy drugs and full frontal? Those are timeless. For at least a couple of games this season there were email announcements ahead of time offering a free slice of pizza for students who arrived by 6:30 PM. Re: 2019-12-06: Cornell 3 Harvard 1 - 4 years ago
Last night, in the game chat, I said "Harvard just had like 9 guys on the ice." As it turns out, they had exactly nine guys on the ice, and seven were playing, while two were going to the bench. In the photo below, players 8 and 9 are heading to the bench, but players 1-7 are actively engaged in playing hockey. (Players 1,2, and 3 are replacing players 8 and 9.)by andyw2100 - Hockey

Still at number two in the USA Today Poll too, but tied in number of first place votes with Minnesota State (17 each), and just out of first on total points (491 vs. 494.) We got close!by andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: 2019-11-22: Cornell 2 Quinnipiac 1 - 4 years ago
What was the deal with what went on after the final buzzer? It looked to me like the Cornell player took a shot at the empty net (that just missed the outside post) perhaps half a second to a second after the buzzer, and was then attacked by at least two different Quinnipiac players. Were they just annoyed that he shot at an empty net after the buzzer? I've seen players go after players who takeby andyw2100 - Hockey

marty Can someone come up with a justification for all penalties called as a result of video review being mandated as major penalties? This helped us tonight but screwed us in the 2018 NCAA game vs. BU where a video review resulted in a five minute major for INTERFERENCE!?!? RichH It's a nice time to revisit one of my favorite TBRW pages. Looking at that page, since 1985, and with the exception of 2002, every time we've taken four points on the north country trip we've also won the ECAC championship.by andyw2100 - Hockey
