Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Awards 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Give My Regards Don't know if this has been pointed out elsewhere, but in addition to being Cornell's first-ever four-time All-Ivy first-team selection, Yanni has played in every game of his Cornell career -- 133 so far. I also don't know if it was mentioned anywhere esle on eLynah or not, but it was part of the information about him that Arthur read during the senior night ceremony.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2019-2020 a historical season - 4 years ago
Cop at Lynah I know that both the men and the women were highly regarded in the preseason polls, but what I've witnessed has been a historical season of hockey on the hill. The men & women overall are combined 50-3-7 in the regular season, 37-2-5 in ECAC play and 18-1-1 in Ivy League play. Also, both teams combined to go unbeaten at Lynah Rink in 2019-2020 in regular season games. Fixed yby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
I don't remember seeing the following discussed here before, though I expect it has been. What is the general consensus with respect to what we think about whether or not the poll voters take scores into account when casting their votes? I'm guessing the voters will factor into their thinking that Cornell beat a highly ranked Clarkson team this week, and that that may be enough to push us to nby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-21: Cornell 4 Yale 0 - 4 years ago
According to an email from Schafer, it was Bauld who first suggested Yale was offside on the reviewed no-goal: "Senior forward Noah Bauld was the first guy to say Yale had gone offsides. We checked with the guys upstairs, and Yale was clearly offsides. It was a good call by those guys looking at it, and it was a turning point, as we came right back and upped the score to 3-0 at 13:11 of tby andyw2100 - Hockey

ugarte Swampy andyw2100 ice #1 According to a tweet from @CornellSports that my daughter forwarded to me, this is the first time both teams have been ranked number one at the same time. ice Yale center Brett Jewell who was helped off the ice last night during the Cornell game is back in the Yale lineup tonight against Colgate. I'm glad he was not seriously hurt. Last night announcers said he was back in the third period.by andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
St Cloud and North Dakota going into OT tied at 3. Edit: No score in the first OT, so that's a tie as far as we're concerned.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
St. Cloud was down 3-2 to North Dakota. They tied it a 3-3, and there was a review resulting in a major penalty against North Dakota. St. Cloud starting on the PP now. I'm listening here:by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 19-20 - 4 years ago
If someone had told you before tonight's games started that BC would beat Northeastern 10-1, what odds would you have needed to make a bet on another game tonight winding up even more lopsided than that? Minnesota State over Alabama-Huntsville 10-0!by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-21: Cornell 4 Yale 0 - 4 years ago
Surprised no one has pointed this out yet, but with tonight's results Cornell has locked up first or second for the regular season. Cornell - 32 points Clarkson - 30 points Harvard - 25 points Quinnipiac - 24 points Three games remaining.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-21: Cornell at Yale - 4 years ago
I attempted to take a couple of screen captures of the zone entry that was ruled offside. I'm guessing the ref and linesman that reviewed the play could actually see the puck. We can't, but we can kind of infer where it is, and based on that the entry definitely felt offside.by andyw2100 - Hockey

ugarte 20 years later and it looks like getting Kanji ice time on senior night is an improvement to the policy Kanji was one of the incorrect answers to one of the scoreboard quiz questions last week. I'm not certain, but I think the question may have been who was the last player to wear the number 1 before it was retired.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-14: Cornell 5 Union 2 - 4 years ago
upprdeck he had 6 PP not like they swallowed the whistle. Both Bennett and the Union goalie seemed upset about stuff that happened around the Union goal. I noticed it during the game, and then today I watched the ESPN feed during and after Union's third no-goal. When the ref skated over to the Union bench, presumably to explain why they were overturning the goal, you can see Bennett animatedlyby andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-14: Cornell 5 Union 2 - 4 years ago
By the way, did anyone else see Bennett's interactions with the officials after the game? He was yelling in their direction and giving them an obviously sarcastic "thumbs-up." He did this at least twice. That would seem to me to be the kind of thing the league may not look kindly upon.by andyw2100 - Hockey
Re: 2020-02-14: Cornell 5 Union 2 - 4 years ago
Jim Hyla Look at the replay around the 2 minute mark. Rinaldi interferes with Galajda before the initial shot. He appears to catch the right skate/leg of Galajda, knocking him to his knees. That does not allow him to quickly get to his right to make the save on the rebound. Good call and I wonder who from CU saw it. I could have missed it, but I didn't notice anyone on the Cornell bench askinby andyw2100 - Hockey

Jim Hyla andyw2100 Trotsky I had no idea the boosters still did a bus. I'm not sure that the CHA has been doing the bus trip every year. I know the past couple of years we've just driven, but that could be because we were starting out in Syracuse, not Ithaca. They try and do a bus every year. It depends if they get enough sign-ups. Sometimes they bring the band. Years ago you could plan oby andyw2100 - Hockey

Re: Colgate Weekend - 4 years ago
Trotsky I hope everyone is home, safe, and warm. How is the weather up there today? Is anyone planning to make the trip to Hamilton? Flurries and the roads are fine. We drove to Ithaca from Syracuse this morning, and will be heading to Hamilton on the CHA bus this afternoon.by andyw2100 - Hockey

ACM andyw2100 upprdeck colgate comes to ithaca, drives home, then back to ithaca then home again. that same trip 4 times in one weekend will suck Probably still less driving than most away weekends though. You are basing all of these comments on the mistaken assumption that the visiting team in the Cornell-Colgate series travels on Thursday and stays overnight in the home team's region. SwampyI'm really glad to learn Dan's family is here for the celebration. Maybe something is planned to honor his memory that we don't know about, and I will be pleasantly surprised tonight. During the ceremony for the 1970 team between the first and second periods there was a special tribute to Dan Lodboa, which included a moment of silence.by andyw2100 - Hockey
