Re: Cornell vs St. Lawrence: Once is an accident, twice is a coincidence... - 11 years ago
Johnny 5 Trotsky 3-1 final. Great 4-point weekend to go into the break; that was a dominant performance; the score was quite modest for the level of play. But, no home games for two months??!! I may have to watch the Red Army Team vs Komsomol. Ithaca Little Red home games at Lynah during the break: Thurs, 12/6: Geneva at 7pm Mon, 1/7: Fayetteville-Manlius at 7:30pm Thurs, 1/10: Balby ithacat - Hockey

Re: New recruit - 11 years ago
RatushnyFan P.S. I forgot the West Seneca Wings and Perinton Blades!! Make it 6 area teams. I think there's a few more in the Buffalo area -- Wheatfield Blades, Amherst Knights & Hamburg Hawks, as well as the Monarchs and Jr. Americans in the Rochester area. When you get to the U16 group in Buffalo there are two more options -- the Jr. Sabres and the Red Raiders. In Rochester, Maksymum hasby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Cornell Women's Hockey: Offseason - 12 years ago
dag14 Ten per game might be an exaggeration because a lot of Tompkins girls hockey player who were in the "Cub Club" would be there with their families. But if attendance topped 100 it would be a huge crowd. Remember, the year before Johnston hit campus, the team won 4 games or something woeful like that. Attendance in the last 2 years has been at least 500 for most games. Especiaby ithacat - Hockey

Swampy Johnny 5 David Harding committing what happens to kids that graduate in 3 years? are they told they cant play a 4 commit year?Right, not at Cornell. But they can go to a non-Ivy for graduate school and play there for a year. Wow! Maybe he could play for Syracuse next year?! I will now commit seppuku. FWIW, RP has gone on record saying he will not play for another university.by ithacat - Other Sports
Re: Lacrosse April 2012 - 12 years ago
Al DeFlorio CUontheslopes Win and in. Agreed, but to be even talking about possibly not making the tournament when the team has only one loss, in OT to UVA I think is the frustrating part of the conversation. The same is often true for Cornell hockey - if you look, this year we may not have had a ton of wins, but we sure didn't have too many losses either. The knock for years on NCAA lacrosseby ithacat - Other Sports
Re: Lax 12 vs. Syracuse 6 final - 12 years ago
Al DeFlorio Ronald '09 The 2007 Syracuse team was probably worse. That team may have had some issues, but it had a lot of talent: Mike Leveille (2008 Tewaaraton), Kenny Nims, Dan Hardy, Pat Perritt, Matt Abbott, Chris Daniello, True...went on to win the next two national championships. Doesn't look like this year's Orange has as talented a young core to save them.by ithacat - Other Sports
Re: Goalie Recruit - 12 years ago
pfibiger Two articles on Mitch Gillam: "It is real exciting," explains Gillam. "They're one of the teams that I have always looked forward to going to play for." Gillam remembers going to watch his older brother Josh's team, Dartmouth University, face-off against Cornell. Gillam claims that the Big Red have the best fans in NCAA hockey. "The fans are crazy aby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Goalie Recruit - 12 years ago
css228 Trotsky Per BRPH, Mitch Gillam for fall 2013. So is Marozzi starting to look like a third stringer or will he and Gillam compete for the job when Iles' time on the hill is up? Iles will be a senior, Marozzi a junior, and Gillam a freshmen in 2013. That's a good situation for the staff. With the starting job open in 2014 the staff can go hard after a stud goalie if available, and if notby ithacat - Hockey

Re: Cornell-Dartmouth Game 1 (Friday) Pregame - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla So was anything said about the Dartmouth coaches yelling at the refs after it was over? They were quite intense. Gaudetting has become an acceptable form of coaching behavior. Rose, however, wouldn't let it go & I thought he was going to lose his biscuits.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: Lax vs. Army - 12 years ago
ugarteMy suggestion is don't let them get a two goal lead. That didn't work too well for SU. Of course, maybe if they had held their own at the X the result would have been different.by ithacat - Other Sports
Re: Lax vs. Army - 12 years ago
Jim Hyla Al DeFlorio 1pm Saturday at Schoellkopf. Inside Lacrosse staff unanimously picks Cornell, but Army looked very tough against Syracuse. I think today's game may say more about SU this early in the season, than about Army being good. (Lousy sentence, but you get the drift, I hope.) SU has blown a 6-3 lead and now trails UVA 7-10. Lerman can't stop anything at his feet.by ithacat - Other Sports
Re: Wrestling at EIWA Championships - 12 years ago
I can't find a video yet of George's behavior. He also had a point deducted for poking the kid in the eye during the match. If his act was as gross as it sounds (reading some accounts) he needs to be thrown off the team for next season. Let him sit for a year and get some counseling.by ithacat - Other Sports
Re: Koll and Dake, Part II - 12 years ago
William Koll and Corey Dake advance to today's semis in the State Championships. Recruit Brian Realbuto advanced to the semis at 152 (D1). ** Rough day for Lansing...Koll and Dake lose their semis. ** Koll and Dake placed third. Brian Realbuto placed first and won his 3rd title. Re: Koll and Dake, Part II - 12 years ago
The two defending state champs had mixed results this weekend. William Koll (So.) won the Section IV DII title with an 8-0 win in the finals. Unfortunately, Corey Dake (Sr.) lost 5-2 to Norwich freshman Tristan Rifanburg. I'm not sure how at-large bids work but I can't imagine Dake not getting one.by ithacat - Other Sports

Re: Wrestling beats Lehigh 24-12 - 12 years ago
Nice win today. Lower weights did a great job. The two OT losses were tough. Excellent confidence booster to Bosak. Simaz looked slow and vulnerable on his feet -- maybe he's still feeling the effects of his leg knock? Why can't Cornell recruit a big time heavy?by ithacat - Other Sports

marty ithacat dbilmesIt's also going to help recruiting more by promising the players a chance to play at MSG. That's a more glamorous site than Schoellkopf. ajh258 ithacat ajh258 Scrivens was the answer, so if Iles gets the ECAC Championship and then into the Forzen Fours, then he will become the answer. I appreciate everything Scrivens did while at Cornell, but I must have missed those Frozen Fours. Scrivens didn't have the firing power that Iles has now, so the bar must be set higher. This games makes me nervous. Niagara has a good squad and has had some decent results -- split with Colgate (winning at Starr), tied RIT at Ritter, and tied Union. It'll be a good test.by ithacat - Hockey
