The only thing that gets him the Nova job is going there as an assistant, the HC vacating the position and he gets promoted. I don't see Wright going anywhere soon, though it seems he would love the Syracuse job.by ithacat - Other Sports

mountainred scoop85 mountainred This may be an even longer season than expected: Colgate 81 Cornell 58. And 'gate called off the dogs with 5 minutes to go; they could have won by 30+. While I think it's clear the Freshman are Courtney's best recruiting class, in my view the team will need to show progress -- forget wins and losses -- to be deserving of returning next year. Excellent start so far. Scrapping for points on the road and taking care of home ice. Curious about recruiting though. Heard someone at Lynah during the last home stand mention next year's class is excellent. Only one name public so far.by ithacat - Hockey

rdez79 I thought if he had gotten a few shutouts last year, he would have had a shot at that total too. Sits at 8 and I don't think he had any last year. Two last year, and I think he lost another one or two in the final minute.by ithacat - Hockey

nyc94 RichH Jim Hyla RIT Coach Wilson talks about where to play post-season and non-conference games. “Without Atlantic Hockey, there wouldn’t be a 16-team tournament. That’s where the growth is coming from.” Read more: I very much agree with all of Wilson's points, especially in getting programs like Michigan and BC to travel. What did RIT have to give up to get Michigan? Every playby ithacat - Hockey

RichH sah67 Michael McCarron, brother of John, who formerly committed to Cornell, and then vetoed that for a commitment to Western Michigan, has now scrapped the NCAA plan entirely, and will report to the London Knights of the OHL after signing a three-year deal with Montreal: I'm not sure if he "vetoed" Cornell, or there was an issue with admissions. Re: Ivy lax tournament 2013 - 11 years ago
Fiore has to come up with one save in the 4th and they win the game. One. Six goals, no saves. Regardless how the defense played that was a horrible performance by him. Fiore had 3 saves in the 2nd half, Sanschagrin had 10. I do believe that a lax goalie might have the toughest job in sport. Still, one save from a senior in the 4th quarter is not too much to expect.by ithacat - Other Sports

Re: Cornell-Bucknell Lacrosse - 11 years ago
Stunning loss. Bucknell had only beaten one team with a winning record, with a very ugly loss on its resume. To blow a 5-0 lead to the Bison makes me have no worries about making alternative plans for Memorial Day.by ithacat - Other Sports

Weder Jenner, Fortino, Rougeau (and Johnston) are on the Team Canada roster for the World Championship next month in Ottawa. Re: General Women's Thread - 11 years ago
Ben Most gutting game I've seen at Lynah. Not quite the worst possible last game as a student, but very close. They could have won 4-1, Saulnier was flying in the first, and Rougeau nearly made lightning strike twice at the end. I think Slebodnick was the saddest athlete I've ever seen after letting in the last goal. Next year is going to be tough, losing the top D-pair to graduation and probablyby ithacat - Hockey

ugarte 174: Marshall Peppleman takes 7th place. Man. He was supposed to be a stud coming out of high school. Disappointing tournament, disappointing season. It seems mean to say that about a kid but it's true. I read that his brother didn't break through until his junior year, so fingers crossed for this guys. I think his brother was an AA as a sophomore. Hopefully he breaks out next year.by ithacat - Other Sports

NY State HS Champioships wrapped up tonight in Albany. Some results that may be of interest: William Koll (Jr) won the 126 title in Division 2. Incoming recruit Dan Choi won the 195 title in Division 1. Incoming recruit Dylan Realbuto placed third at 126 in Division 1. Troy Nickerson's nephew, Kyle Kelly failed to win his 3rd title, placing 2nd at 113 in Division 1. Nick Arujau's brotherby ithacat - Other Sports

Trotsky ithacat What's happened to students chanting "townies up" at the end of games? Has it been banned? I heard it each night. The boarding call was legit. Re: PU @ CU - 11 years ago
Scersk '97 The refs completely screwed us at the end. Hilbrich had his hands down and didn't even get half of the guy on the "boarding," and Axell's trip was after he had been tripped himself. Idiocy. I saw it the same way on each penalty. However, in 2013 the team is 0-4 at Lynah, with an aggregate score of 3-11. In the past 206:10 at home they've scored one goal from 98 shots onby ithacat - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Clark - 11 years ago
Obviously, the problems are deeper than just the goalie position. A look at the team rankings on a national scale would ruin the best buzz. The good news is college hockey isn't a relegation sport. The bad news is the team is without Cole Bardreau. PS, the team is 1-7 without Bardreau.by ithacat - Hockey

RichH Trotsky Never write off a season. This. I can think of a half-dozen seasons off the top of my head where CU has erased/redeemed a non-stellar regular season or a stretch of mid-winter doldrums with a strong post-season run. The '06 team is looked at as a success, forever remembered for taking Wisconsin to 0-0 in the 3rd OT in Green Bay. They were a frustratingly inconsistent 4-3-1 for thby ithacat - Hockey

Ben dag14 The women get off to a slow start but beat St. Lawrence 6-0. Bizarre scoring situation in that game. The first goal, midway through the 2nd (which I couldn't see from Section B), was reviewed and called off, but still counted on the scoreboard, box score, and in the goal announcements.
