RichH ithacat As the game continues to move in the direction of skill and speed we'll have a difficult time maintaining (or reclaiming) any national relevance. 1) You're suggesting there's no skill in defense, which is a ridiculous statement. 2) It is? Prove it. Union won on the back of a generational d-man. Scoring around the nation's top teams is down even compared to 10 years ago, nevermby ithacat - Hockey

BearLover scoop85 BearLover cbuckser Jim HylaHow about our seniors didn't turn out as good as projected. Ferlin and maybe Ryan and Bardreau gave us something of what I expected. Ryan is still not as good this year as last, lingering injury? Bardreau has not done as well as I expected, after getting picked for Juniors. Lowry probable came close, but of course he's no longer able. Overall I, and Iby ithacat - Hockey

margolism It's amazing where this season would be if Cornell could just muster one more goal per game. - Our most recent loss to Q would have been a tie One goal on Friday would have been a win, most likely, and a shutout for Mitch.by ithacat - Hockey

abmarks ithacat The Q defender clearly pushes him into the goalie. Without the push can he make a play on the rebound? If I was a Q fan I would think it was the correct call. totally disagree- watch the slow mo video. The CU player didn't stop himself in time and hit the goalie on his own. The QU player only pushed our guy deeper into the goalie after our guy was already there. No goby ithacat - Hockey

In the Journal it was reported that the replay equipment didn't work. We've now had ice issues, Zamboni issues, scoreboard issues, and replay issues (which I don't think is the first time). At least our tickets are cheap.by ithacat - Hockey

They may not all be on Coutney, but it doesn't change the fact that one of the calling cards of his teams is folding under pressure.by ithacat - Other Sports

Re: Cornell at RPI - 9 years ago
Trotsky CAS 2 of the recruits due to arrive in the fall are NHL draft picks - one taken in the 3rd round and one in the 5th round. That's Starrett and Angello. Both are big (6-5). Here are their numbers this year: Angello: 9-7-16 with 43 PIM in 30 GP for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. He's 6th on a team whose leading scorer is 10-26-36. Starrett: According to Elite Prospects he hasn't plaby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Cornell at RPI - 9 years ago
Mike needs to take a good look at either his staff or his recruiting profile. As the game increasing opens up his offense numbers continue to regress. The last 3 seasons (including this one) have produced the 3 lowest scoring teams in the past 12 seasons -- and the 4 lowest have been during the past 5 seasons. 7 NHL draft picks and the #1 goalie in the country and we have a losing record. Re: Attendance at Lynah - 9 years ago
Sec B is about all that's left of the once entertaining student Faithful. Even during dull games watching the students was worth the price of admission. Now we just have high-priced tickets, boring offensive play, and thuggish on ice behavior. I guess three out of four isn't so bad.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: Women's Hockey 2015 - 9 years ago
Jenner and Saulnier are at another level. Recruiting has slid the past few years and I'm realizing how fortunate we have been with all the talent that came through Cornell. Shame the team couldn't have won that final, the future looks much more like good but not great. Hope I'm wrong.by ithacat - Hockey
Gillam is not the answer - 9 years ago
Sorry, couldn't resist. Mitch is currently 3rd in the country in both goals against average and save percentage. Among the 33 goalies listed at USCHO he's the only one without a win, granted he's played fewer games than anyone else on the list except Harvard's Michalek. Princeton is 50th in defense (57th without our game)...ouch. Clarkson and SLU are each in the top 20. Offensively we rankby ithacat - Hockey
Re: cornell - quin sat night - 9 years ago
CAS Coach was just defending his player. It's good to finally see some passion. Now, if we could just score a goal, or two... I have no doubt he was defending his player. That's no excuse for saying what he said. He could have shown the same protection and passion without resorting to that language.by ithacat - Hockey
Re: cornell - quin sat night - 9 years ago
That may be true, but I'm hoping Cornell suspends him before the ECAC gets involved. A coach should not speak in such a way and get away with it. He also said the players get their cues from the coaches -- wonder how many parents want their kids handling adversity in such a way? Maybe scoring while on a 5x3 or on an extended PP would have made for a more appropriate response. If he doesn't like Rby ithacat - Hockey
Re: Friday: Princeton 2 Cornell 1 - 9 years ago
Trotsky billhoward Cornell had a lot of near-scoring chances that will be converted to goals when the offense gels. Must have been a dozen passes for deflections that didn't get on net. Colton Phinney did an amazing job in goal for Princeton: 40 saves. This game is going to hurt at the end of February when we look back on how we could have had 2 more points in the ECAC standings. Re: Women's lacrosse - 9 years ago
billhoward Syracuse has made quick progress in women's lacrosse: founded 1998, a bunch of NCAA appearances under Gary Gait, made it to the title game this year, has the player of the year, Kayla Treanor, a sophomore. Be nice if Cornell women's lacrosse could match the success of men's lacrosse or women's ice hockey. I would hope a national title is coming soon.
