Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Rogers Park, Chicago: Help! - 19 years ago
Thanks for the reference, though, all the same, this game was difficult to catch at *any* sports bar.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

I preferred not to chance it, so I decided to listen at home unless someone made me an offer I couldn't refuse.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Cornell vs. the Ohio State University: Pregame - 19 years ago
I think I can hear our pep band warming up. In fact, I'm sure of it now because they're playing my arrangement of Jungle Love. Just before that, I swear that I heard them warming up the Michigan fight song, "Hail to the Victors!" Antagonise and distract. I am proud.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Rogers Park, Chicago: Help! - 19 years ago
So, it's pretty obvious that the game is not going to be available at a sports bar in Chicago. I even tried an Ohio State bar, no dice. Might as well make the last ditch effort: Is there anyone in Chicago planning to watch the game on DirecTV willing to invite me over for the game? I'll wear my jersey, try not to swear in front of your kids, bring some beer or soda if you like, and be eternby Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: UHN vs Harvard game thread - 19 years ago
Wow. Still no gametracker for the UNH/Harvard game. Must consist of some guy sitting at his keyboard watching ESPNU. Good tracker, but that's rinky-dink.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Re: #4 Maine vs #1 Minn Game Thread - 19 years ago
Ya know, the Minnesota radio guys are somewhat homer, but they're quite gracious towards the other team. Not bad.by Scersk '97 - Hockey

Ugh... that call just gave me a flashback to John Grahame in '96. What a hoover.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Colgate vs. CC Game Thread - 19 years ago
Wow... the Colgate announcers are kind of homers. Who cares if CC has a power play? Colgate'll just score another shorty.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: 2005-06 Schedule - 19 years ago
Arik, First of all, I have a distaste for the "corporateness" of Michigan athletics, not for the fans, the teams, and such. But there are a couple of exceptions: 1) I think their Pep Band and Marching Band are completely soulless and not worthy of the praise ladeled on them. I see them as walking, breathing extensions of the Michigan athletic department's cold, clammy, money-grby Scersk '97 - Hockey

Having gone to grad school at UM (Scersk lets see if you agree with this) it's just not as much fun when the suspense isnt there. There's something to being the underdog that adds to the experience. I was at Michigan from 97-99 and was in Boston to watch UM beat BC in OT for the NCAA title.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: 2005-06 Schedule - 19 years ago
Everyone's turning all whiny about an out-of-conference schedule that isn't that bad. 1) As has been mentioned above, it's far better to play Niagara, an often dangerous CHA team, than anybody in Atlantic Hockey. 2) Quinnipiac will not be last place in the league next year, since that's reserved for Yale for some time yet. Now, now, let's not bring up my "gentleman's Cs..." And you'll never be able to find the money that I've hidden away in my secret offshore bank account! Oh crap! I shouldn't have mentioned the secret bank account. PS Don't tell the bones.by Scersk '97 - Hockey
Re: Quit BITCHING about seeding - 19 years ago
Yeah, it was more a convenience for the spreadsheet than anything else. I made the comment that I did more because I had a home team at every other regional, so UHN would've been the logical one at Amherst. In fact, since I made Michigan home at GR, I should make UHN home at Amherst. I guess I've opened up my own "can of worms." I just like doing math now that I don't have to, youby Scersk '97 - Hockey

Why the AHA matters, or the Wisconsin Booby Prize - 19 years ago
Given: Wisconsin is currently a likely #4 seed. Wisconsin, despite their horrendous late-season slide, is #7 in the KRACH. Colgate, Dartmouth, or Vermont is likely to be the other "Big 4" #4 seed.
