Re: Beanpaht - 19 years ago
As much as I hate to say it, Hyphen played an amazing game. Faced a huge number of shots, did a great job of controlling rebounds and pushing/deflecting pucks into the corners instead of holding for faceoffs in the zone... I hope he is rattled by his tems inability to put some points on the board 5 and a half minutes of extra man advantage in the 1st OT and Sucks cant score!by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Beanpaht - 19 years ago
Northeastern going on the PP with 2:43 left in OT #1 (Noah Welch goes to the box, which will hurt the PK)by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Beanpaht - 19 years ago
Northeastern kills another PP, Harvard uncable to score on the 5:30 of extra man advantage in OT so far. less than 4 minutes in the 1st OTby Cornell95 - Hockey

Cornell vs. Clarkson in Boston? - 19 years ago
Anyone want to recommend a good place to catch the Cornell/Clarkson game tonight in the Boston area (Metrowest would be fine as well). Preferably somewhere with a decent TV and some hope of hearing the audio thanks Kevin in Brighton, MAby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Lynah East Postmortem - 19 years ago
Harvard definitely had a much larger crowd this weekend compared to the previous three years I have attended... but the band was weak and you wouldnt have known the crowd was almost 50% Harvard fans until the goal was scored. This is the only game I have caught in person (saw the BC game on TV). Despite the Harvard "good winners" club on USCHO comments about fair officating, I thougby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell/Sucks game thread - Cornell 0 Sucks 1 final - 19 years ago
I was at the game last night, and if Cornell was the boring team, then Harvard was coma inducing. I will credit them with a very agressive forecheck often putting 4 men in the offensive zone when were trying to bring the puck out (coach appeared to make an in game adjustment in the 2nd period (new breakout using 4 players on the end line) and that is when Cornell started to control the flow bettby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell-BC post mortem - 19 years ago
I am still wondering when the coaching staff is going to get O'Byrne mentally to a place where he stops taking penalties at the beginning of periods (he put BC on the PP during the first 2 minutes of both the 1st and 2nd periods). This has been a problem for him all season it seems, and as good as the Cornell PK is, when you face top 10 teams you cant put yourself a man down constantly (commentby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Harvard bursts Vermont's bubble - 19 years ago
Despite the HEAVY Eastern bias in the national polls I would be very surprised if 4 ECACHL teams made it into the top 15 at this point in the season. Harvard will need to beat Maine this Saturday (currently ranked #11) to crack the top 15 and I would guess either Boston University (playing RPI on Saturday) or Northern Michigan (2 against Alaska Fairbanks) would have to lose and another team fby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: 11/12: Cornell 1 Michigan State 1, final (ot) - 19 years ago
So if anyone who was at the game gets online later, would love to hear your thoughts... from a MSU fan posting on USCHO.com "Ya, he <McKee> stole a tie. MSU dominated the game except for 5 min in the 2nd and again for 5 in the 3rd. Overall Cornell was a slow non-athletic team. They could not gain control of the puck for long stretches and when they did they got out worked in the cby Cornell95 - Hockey

How does the ice sheet at MSU compare to Lynah, I know more of the western teams have olympic size ice, and that could present a challenge/adjustment for our defensive system?by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 0, Harvard 0 - 19 years ago
you mean 2 harvard NHL draft picks who cant even pass, now that is sadby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: OT: Goalie masks vs. catcher's masks - 20 years ago
It has been a long time since I was in Little League, but from what I remember one of the benefits of the 2 part mask was in being able to remove the mask quickly when chasing down foul tips and pop-ups. I would imagine that the hockey style mask would be more challenging to remove quickly and also heavier to run with (the old baseball adage was to remove the mask immediately but keep it in yourby Cornell95 - Hockey

hockey defense 101? - 20 years ago
I am hoping the eLynah community can fill me on hockey defenses, specifically the "trap". I havent ever been a hockey player and am clueless about defensive alignments/systems... can someone more knowledgeable fill me in? I frequently hear commentators and other fans speaking about how Cornell uses the neutral ice trap (denied by other Cornell fans). If you feel like really going allby Cornell95 - Hockey
