Re: Brown announcer was GREAT! - 17 years ago
Just got home from the game... I dont know how it came across on the radio, but the officiating was simply horrendous. Words cannot describe its suckitude sufficiently. After a fairly quiet 1st period (just the single major that was important) I was going to say that I was suprised how penalty free the game was shaping up and then the 2nd and 3rd were almost a non-stop penalty fest. CCoB should refocus - 17 years ago
Anyone else out there think the CCoB should get out of ticket distribution and focus on maybe getting this game put on CN8 or NESN or Fox North? Maybe I dont understand the local cable thing well enough, but given the demand every October for tickets you would think they could set something up with a channel that normally broadcasts weekend hockey. They can still skim some income off the top byby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: watching regional in boston? - 18 years ago
Thanks for all the leg work from those calling around! Just my two cents that the parking at the Sports Depot is a major plus for me and the people I keep informed of these events, some of the other locations more downtown require taking the MBTA or finding a garage (not the end of the world) Not sure how the Depot was for those coming by MBTA last time, we probably cant make everyone happy butby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Bracket Selection Show - 18 years ago
TrustnduztOy -- CC is damn good. The hockey analyst on the selection show didn't even MENTION our name when talking about our bracket. The term "analyst" is a real stretch for him... he was obviously reading his crib and that wasnt giving him much. The only thing he apparantly had written down for the BIG RED was, "has trouble scoring goals", and in talking about Harvard heby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Tournament Bracket Selection Show - 18 years ago
We controlled our own destiny and couldnt get it done last night. I definitely liked Moy's predictions last night better (with us in Worcester). I want to emphasize that I MUCH prefer the relatively clear selection and seeding process (what was the bonus this year?) to a lot of backroom stuff, but in the interest of hockey and not just the Worcester gate... who really wants to see BC/BU play forby Cornell95 - Hockey
watching the game in the Boston area? - 18 years ago
Is anyone watching the ECAC games this weekend in the Boston area or is everyone headed to Albany. I cant get out of town, guessing that the Sports Depot will be packed for the NCAA basketball games and we wont be able to get the back room (although we did fill it for the last two televised games). Anyone working on something?by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: 2005-2006 PWR - 18 years ago
Might I be so bold as to suggest that this thread be closed on 2/28 and a new thread started for March PWR discussions? It is getting a little large to navigate IMNSHO Kevinby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
KeithKThey tore down the historic building! Sure, they kept the facade but they basically tore it down. I admit the place was something of a dump by the late 90's and it's kind of cool that they could do it that way, but they still basically tore down a historic building and called it a renovation. (It still kind of pisses me off. It was our dump!) From what I remember the dining hall in thby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
nyc94I really dislike the way Cornell adds on to buildings... Same goes for Duffield being stuck to Phillips. And could they have matched the stone when they added on to the law school? Well it has been some time since I was on campus and in a design department (Landscape Arch. '95) but I will chime in anyways I think the decision to place Duffield on the Engineering Quad was a huge mistaby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: 2005-2006 PWR - 18 years ago
So who wants to give us the short answer on how the 3 possible outcomes for each of tonight's Beanpot games would impact our PWR. I assume we are rooting for NU and Harvard in these early round games, but what do I know.by Cornell95 - Hockey

I will be in attendance, will pass this info on to some other alums as well, but I cant speak for them.by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Colgate Viewing Parties - 18 years ago
Found this, probably still fairly accurate (there was a 50cent increase this past year which I dont know if this includes) The fare structure: The first 1/4 mile (when the flag drops) costs $1.75, and each additional 1/8 mile is 30ยข. All together you are looking at $6.50-$7.50 from Harvard Square (each way), so more than $10 and less than $15 for the evening. If you had a few people it migby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Colgate Viewing Parties - 18 years ago
Yeah, I am no fan of the buses either, but living near the last stop on the Green 'B' line I have a strong distast for that as well. Probably worth a cab ride over taking public transportation... it would be about 2 miles from Harvard by car, not sure what that is as a cab fareby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Cornell - Colgate Viewing Parties - 18 years ago
Not sure how much a taxi would run, but if you want to use the MBTA it looks like a pretty simple route using the #66 Bus out of Harvard to Cambridge Street The Sport Depot is in Allston on Cambridge Street and the #66 bus appears to go right by it (looking at the map, the Sports Depot would be on Cambridge just west of the tracks/rails) and leaves from Harvard every 20 minutes on the weekby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Colgate away broadcast / Boston - 18 years ago
I think I will make it and have 1-2 others with me There are some other Cornell alums in the area I will try contacting by e-mail as well.by Cornell95 - Hockey

Re: Cornell 4 @ Harvard 3 postgame thread (11/11/05) - 18 years ago
A really great game, and the Lynah Faithful were in full force. If it is possible I think the Harvard student section was even more pathetic this year than years past (they had plenty to cheer about too) Some thoughts not mentioned yet that I will add... Everyone is mentioning Scottt, and deservedly so, but the new player that I noticed the most was Barlow... when he is on the ice you know iby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: MSU 4, Cornell 3 post-game (game 2) thread - 18 years ago
If the refs want to make a point they need to eject players who throw punches, even if the gloves dont come off. That fiasco in the 1st that only resulted in a handful of offsetting minors set the rest of the game up... add that to the 2 interference calls on Sasha and it is hard for Cornell to play their game.by Cornell95 - Hockey

so is it being played on local radio, any updates?by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Lynah East Tickets.... - 18 years ago
Well I wasnt able to get even a pair of standing room tickets by the time I got through on the phone (11am)... however if anyone wants to see Harvard/Dartmouth you can still get blocks of 6 seats for Saturday night!by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Boston warning about potential Sunday game - 19 years ago
If you are in the Boston area and have any regular cable package at home you can watch the game on CN8 I think, they are supposedly picking up all the regional finals. No need to go to a bar, just buy a six and stay at home!by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: ESPNU scheduled to show CU/OSU - 19 years ago
I would like to think that we would be able to get onto a wider distribution channel than Altitude Alternative... but looking at the ESPNU website this morning (Friday) it still doesnt have the Cornell game listed and has the Midwest Final on at 5:00pm. I would doubt they would bump the final for the 1st round game in another region... I would nt count on being able to see the whole game on ESby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: regionals - watching in Boston - 19 years ago
I was thinking about stopping in there and didnt, wish I had known (the internet feed was horrible for the semifinal game and I didnt see any of the final). Can you hear any of the play by play or is it like many places where the only sound is some recycled best of the 70s/80s musak over the house system? I am in Brighton and can do either metrowest or downtown, but would love to hear as wellby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: OFF-TOPIC: Important Friday out-of-towns - 19 years ago
I will admit I am a 'Cuse homer... but this officiating is AWEFUL! Cant believe how few reachin fouls have been called, the 'Cuse are getting chopped up out there (still no excuse for them to be down) ps. that hanging on the rim Technical, worst call I have seenby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Important Friday out-of-towns - 19 years ago
Ryan Shannon has a SICK chip pass blue line to blue line that creates a very good scoring chance... it will be on the highlights for sureby Cornell95 - Hockey

Re: Lynah remodel - keeping up with the Joneses - 19 years ago
Cornell certainly is suffering some growing pains, and space is at a premium these days. That said, there are tons of politics involved in getting anything built and master planning is a minefield. I heard very few good reasons for why the new biotech center is being built on the practice fields instead of on the Ag quad which really needs a building to close the space where Roberts/Stone Halby Cornell95 - Hockey
