Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: 2022 Takeaways - 2 years ago
Confused by your reply, as I dont see an offense that seems to prioritize jam attempts from the side of the goal as "...an up-tempo, skills style of play"by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: 2022 Takeaways - 2 years ago
I was sort of sitting on this question the whole second half of the season From my perspective, the team has been much more fluid on the breakout (even with the departure of Kaldis) and pushing in to the offensive zone with less D to D passing or waiting for line changes behind our own goal But this season it seemed the primary offensive strategy was to get below the end line and then attemby Cornell95 - Hockey

Re: Another new restaurant - 2 years ago
One of the species that was planted as a potential replacemennt was the Zelcova Serrata There was a substantial number planted, I distinctly remember a bunch in front of Lincoln on the Arts quad They unfortunately don't reach the same towering height, and while they do have a similar vase shape that would create the desired 'arch' form over narrower spans, they also didnt handle snow/ice loadby Cornell95 - John Spencer Is Dead
Re: Harvard Away tickets on sale - 2 years ago
there will be Cornell fans in numbers in most sections depending on general ticket availability you may want to consider the following do you want to be directly across from the pep bands? (loud) do you want to be near either team bench? (smell) would you prefer to be center ice or closer to the goal Cornell shoots at twice?by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Harvard Away tickets on sale - 2 years ago
will be making the trek out to LynahEast for the first time from Upstate NY after 17 years of being in the Greater Boston area last time I looked there were still a LOT of tickets available. maybe COVID concerns have got people hesitant to attend? maybe gouging Cornell fans for $40 a ticket has finally reached the tipping point (could but a real nice ribeye and watch the stream on ESPN+ for thatby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Polls 2019-20 - 4 years ago
what are the chances that SUCKS can beat #12 Northeastern tonight in the first round of the Beanpot? Maybe the Huskies will be quarantined for possible corona virus exposure or something?by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: 2020-01-17: Cornell vs Northern Michigan - 4 years ago
as a fan who never played... what is the responsibility of the offensive player there maybe I just dont know what to look for, but it seemed like the NMU skater tried to reverse direction along the wall and bauld had no chance to pull up without out contacting him from behindby Cornell95 - Hockey

Re: ECAC Finals: Clarkson vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
as a casual fan who never played hockey... can someone more knowledgeable comment on the high number of clearances blocked by refs tonight? does it always fall on the player to know where the ref is stationed? ref have some responsibility to anticipate/move? a result of both players and refs not playing on Olympic size sheet?by Cornell95 - Hockey

looked to me like his skates might have left the ice too which would certainly tip towards the 5 major + ejectionby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Opponent News 18-19 - 5 years ago
will the CanTabs win a BeanPot game this year? Consolation game 0-0 after 1st (apparently they decide to not televise it because Harvard has no fans) LiveStats atby Cornell95 - Hockey

well I have the benefit of an aunt and uncle who built a house about 30minutes east of Lake Plaid when they retired so I have the benefit of a bed&breakfast option and people to visit when I am not at the rink Go Big Red! -Kevinby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: ECAC Playoffs - 6 years ago
I am considering driving up to Lake Placid for the tournament this year. What is the ticket situation usually like, particularly if Cornell and Clarkson make the semifinals? Do I need to buy ticket(s) in advance? Are tickets typically available at the venue day of contest? I have anywhere from 0-4 siblings/friends considering joining me for the weekend. -Kevin '95by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 8 years ago
Can it be that no one bumped this thread for the annual wasted opportunity for Harvard to help he ECAC's out-of-conference record in the BeanPot? Less than 10 days till the LynahEast tilt (Friday, February 19, 2016) Not sure whether Cornell Athletics has any tickets left, but I just noticed that Harvard has about 2 dozen tickets in section 15 in groups of 3/5/7/8 Looking like I wont be ablby Cornell95 - Hockey

Re: Ivy Semi v. Penn - Penn 11-10 final - 10 years ago
rss77 Sloppy play and a lack of discipline as in too many penalties. I was at the game, and the tone was certianly set in the 1Q by the officiating crew. Embarassing job by the zebras, and it hurt Cornell early That said Cornell rallied in the 3rd and got the lead before the wheels came off Knight didnt play great (there may have beens some issues with how the setting sun was changing conditiby Cornell95 - Other Sports
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 10 years ago
after 1 period Sucks already trails Northeastern 2-0 and failed to do much of anything during a 5min major PPby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: CU @ Brown 2/1/14 - 10 years ago
they came in near the end of the 2nd period if I recall I assume they had been at the Brown/Columbia men's bball game which started at 6pm they sat right next to the Brown band and launched in toa Beat Cornell chant, followed by a fairly vulgar multi-verse song which had a refrain referencing excrement I think they also tried a remote control goalie (but it was mostly the chant 'bend over'by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: CU @ Brown 2/1/14 - 10 years ago
Was it just me or was the officiating pretty terrible? One thing that really stuck out to me was how long Drain was taking to drop the puck during faceoffs, which was basically drawing players in to situations which then required throwing someone out of the faceoff or giving instructions to the other players. I thought restarting play quickly had become a point of emphasis in recent years?by Cornell95 - Hockey

Rather than start a new thread, just figured I would add a short bit of positive press about the lax program hereby Cornell95 - Other Sports
Re: 11/9 Union - 10 years ago
well in the past we only had the reputation of the program as an end of season contender to prop us up in the polls but now that we have 3-4 real rabid Chicken Little's flooding the message boards with calls for the coach to be sacked, the team identity to be inverted, and predictions of the end of the world (we might as well just quit now, maybe make some space for Title IX compliance)... welby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 10 years ago
Killer Just got that e-mail saying that single game tickets go on sale September 4th. How nice of them to make our game not just "Premium," at $20 prior to gameday, but "Premium Plus," along with the Yale game, so they can charge $25. Dont they mean the $20 Cum Laude tickets and $25 Summa Cum Laude tickets? No wait, for that to be the case they would have to gouge at leastby Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 10 years ago
last year tickets went on sale Sept 5 it has moved around a bit over the last few years though The game at Lynah East is January 17th this coming season (was a Fall game last season I think, and previously was around Valentines Day for many years)by Cornell95 - Hockey
Re: Ivy lax tournament 2013 - 11 years ago
frustrating because the game displayed many of the same problems identified earlier in the season very early in the 1st Cornell won 5 straight faceoffs, but turned 2 over immediately resulting in a Princeton 3-2 lead it was another opportunity to real take a team completely out in the first half squandered I dont normally lean on Donovan as much as some posters on the Laxpower board, but tonby Cornell95 - Other Sports
