Discussions about the Cornell men's and women's hockey teams
Re: Uniom 2/2/18 - 6 years ago
upprdeck It doesn't look like the news of the team doing well is really causing any spike in ticket sale.. still hundreds left for Union. My guess is we're going to see that ticket sales on the student side aren't correlated with how much we win, unless we win the national championship or something crazy like that. Many students have no idea/don't care how the team is doing and just go to games bby BearLover - Hockey

dbilmes Iceberg Beeeej Just in case anybody was wondering, Tuesday night's travel partner tilt featuring Princeton at Quinnipiac will not affect our PWR position regardless of the result. Princeton winds up winning the game in a battle of two of the conference's bottom feeders. However, that last first-round home seed is very much up for grabs. The current 8th place team is Brown since they hby BearLover - Hockey
Re: Radio! - 6 years ago
RichH Trotsky upprdeck since when are Home announcers not allowed to be Homers? and Rizzuto was as over the top Homer as it gets. Some schools its all about the WE, listen to a ND radio broadcast. the show is being broadcast for the "WE" fans not the avg person so why shouldn't it cater to that? Listen to SU broadcasts. When Turrico/McDounagh? are doing national shows its one styby BearLover - Hockey

jfeath17 Student season tickets don't include those games. First time they've done that. Wait, seriously? So not even an incentive for students to stick around over break for senior night. Such a shameby BearLover - Hockey

Re: Clarkson game 2/9 - broadcast? - 6 years ago
Trotsky Chris H82 Does anyone know if the Clarkson game on Feb 9 will be broadcast on anything beyond WHCU radio? I'm assuming that since it's a non-Ivy game, ILN won't show it? Thinking about getting a watch party together (kind of a long trip from Seattle to Potsdam), but gotta make sure we can see it before I set up the group invite!Clarkson was a pioneer in streaming their games. If we don't get Green back (no reason to think we wouldn't, as far as I know), we are in huge trouble. Mallott is a great player, but we are way deeper at forward. Re: rankings, expectations, etc.: yeah, Cornell isn't the best team in the country. The team with the #1 ranking, only twenty games into the season, rarely is. In addition to the small sample size it has to work with, the PWR is imby BearLover - Hockey
Re: How to get tickets. - 6 years ago
upprdeck they go on sale at tues 9am that week i think. its employee weekend and they have been working hard to sell tickets for that of they 2-300 that were not season tickets so dont know how many for the Sat game are floating around. its also SR night isnt it? probably be a sell out. the Brown game should not be a problem. It's during the new February Break, though, so I imagine a lot of sby BearLover - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Dartmouth 1/27/18 - 6 years ago
Jim Hyla From the Dartmouth write-up: “I thought we played really hard tonight and outplayed them for much of the game,” head coach Bob Gaudet’81 said. “Cornell is the best team in the country. They’re No. 1 in my eyes and we hung with them and really took the play to them. They’re just so good that they can take those hits and keep pushing back.” I have to assume we played like that since wby BearLover - Hockey

Re: Cornell @ Hahvahd 1/26/18 - 6 years ago
upprdeck it was the sloppiest game they have played in awhile. Was it Cornell being sloppy, or was it Harvard playing a very aggressive forecheck and giving the Red very little time and space to find/complete a pass to an open man? Cornell has had this same issue with Harvard the past few years and with Yale before that. Seems like more of a quality-of-opposition thing than a being-sloppy thing.by BearLover - Hockey

KenP IMO hitting a PWR milestone on a Friday is like the Dow or NASDAQ breaking a record in the middle of the trading day. At least we don't have a fat orange asshole tweeting about it every time we hit a PWR milestone.by BearLover - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Hahvahd 1/26/18 - 6 years ago
Swampy Trotsky The last time Cornell had this many shutouts at this point in the season? Never. They have 7. In the record (10) setting season, as of 1/26/05 they had... 3. Either you are wrong, or Johnny 5 was right. The announcers (on ESPN3) tonight said we have 5 shutouts for the season. 6 now for Galajda, 1 for Stewartby BearLover - Hockey

Re: Fake News? - 6 years ago
KenP Let's ask the question in a different way. Is Cornell'18 as scary as Clarkson'18? Or Yale or Quinnipiac or Union or Sucks from recent seasons? If I were a betting man I don't know if I'd put this team as the favorite in any of those match-ups.... We are good; still not sure if we are elite. I'd say Cornell is about as scary as Clarkson '18 and less scary than those other teams. Why? Beby BearLover - Hockey
Re: Colgate vs. Cornell home-and-home 1/19-20 - 6 years ago
It's hard to measure recruiting but if you go by draft picks this year's team is not markedly different from past years'. Of course, you can end up with a ton of Vanderlaans and Donaldsons on your team, players who weren't drafted mostly because of size but who can still excel in college, and maybe Cornell is getting more of those these days.by BearLover - Hockey

JasonN95 BearLover JasonN95 Swampy snert1288 Matt Galajda with back to back shut outs and a scoreless streak just over 160 minutes (and counting). Very impressive for this freshman against a good Colgate team. The wins are most important but I love the sense of quality goaltending continuing in to our future. I believe he just tied David McKee's record of six shutouts for a freshman. Traditiby BearLover - Hockey

TimV upprdeck I think Clarkson winning over teams right around us is good.. let them lose to someone down the standings. Very good thought. At the start of the ECACH playoffs, the difference between finishing first or second is not very significant, but the team that finishes third or fourth gets a tougher 2nd round opponents and the fourth place team, if it survives gets the first place teaby BearLover - Hockey
