Re: Bracketology Starts - 6 years ago
If the NCAA wants to boost attendance place Cornell in Bridgeport. Cornell gets 15,000 fans to MSG thanksgiving weekend getting 10,000 big red fans to Bridgeport in late March is easy.by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: HARVARD SUCKS - 6 years ago
I agree the chickens were great!!! A shout out to the best Cornell "chicken" presenter --- Bill Silvia (may he rest in peace). I got the pleasure of seeing him do it my freshman year and then his brother "Redlight" continued the tradition in grand style into the early 1980s.by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: Quarterfinals at Q - 11 years ago
Axel got elbowed in the head by Van Brabant. It should have been a 5 minute major and a game DQ but the ref who was 20 feet away was lookng up the ice and didn't see it even though about 2000 other people at the game same exactly what happened.by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: Another New Recruit - 14 years ago
I believe another two sport player was Brock T (77-81). He was a great goal scorer in ice hockey for several years but I believe he was also an outstanding soccer player his freshman year.by msphi81 - Hockey

Re: Notes for Quinny game this weekend - 16 years ago
Corn nuggets are overrated but for those that took Ag Ec 240 many years ago Screaming Yellow Zonkers are GREAT. As for the hot truck, my kids love them almost as much as I did 20+ years ago and you get get them at the shortstop deli downtown. LGR!!!!by msphi81 - Hockey

Re: NYTimes Article about Cornell vs. SUCKS - 17 years ago
I must say this artile brings back wonderful memories of smuggling fish into the rink as well as a few chickens.--Back in the late 70's/early 80's we would bring a few chickens and place at least one in sucks net. One year (before my time) it was rumored that a chicken deposited an egg. One year the sucks goalie started to swing at the chicken and nearly started a riot. Re: Cornell 5 @ Yale 2 (Final) - 17 years ago
A very impressive win. I've been going to Cornell games for 25+ years and this is the fastest Cornell team that I've seen in many years. It looks like this is a team that can win on the big Olympic ice rinks. Romano reminds me of Brock Tredway, Scott was fantastic and really frustrated the bulldogs into dumb penalties. Barlow, Seminoff, and Gallagher were also exciting to watch. We clearly hby msphi81 - Hockey

Re: Another stupid question - 18 years ago
David's mom is a great way to go. I went to the Hobey Baker awards last year with my two boys. We were waiting in line to get the Hobey Baker poster signed by David. David's mom came up to us and introduced herself and asked if she could have a picture of my sons with David because they were the only one's that she saw with Cornell jerseys. I had a great conversation with his mom and David andby msphi81 - Hockey

Alternatives to live fish...fish sticks....inflatable fish....plastic fish...how about returning to tradition and placing a live chicken on Sucks netby msphi81 - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Yale Game thread - 18 years ago
Cornell was lucky to escape with the win. They got way too many dumb penalties. Against a good team they would have been in big trouble. It reminded me about the loss to BC in Florida last year. As for the fight at the end. They have to be bold enough to walk away and not throw punches right in front of the three blind mice. The crazed thing about the flight is that Boucher did not get DQ aby msphi81 - Hockey
Re: McKee "Hobey Hat Trick" - 19 years ago
Cornell fans--Where were you? The best thing about the frozen four events was seeing David at the autograph signing for the Hobey "hat trick". Although we were very disappointed with the final outcome and were not impressed with CC's play last night it was interesting the number of CC fans that came up to us and recognized that David is in a special class as a goaltender. Returning to the subject topic "McKee Hobey Hat Trick"---Does anyone know the details of the Hobey award process? Are all three finalists introduced? Are any Cornell fans in the area going to Columbus to cheer for McKee? Lets go RED!!!!by msphi81 - Hockey

Re: Anyone still going to Columbus? - 19 years ago
Ditto for me. I'll still be going with two of my kids -- the worst of all worlds no cornell and 4 wcha teams. For those of us that are going I think its real important to show our support on Friday at the hobey baker awards.by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: McKee in Hobey Hat Trick - 19 years ago
Glad to see that McKee will be in Columbus, I only wish it was for the games on Thursday and Saturday. I decided to keep my hockey tickets for the frozen four and will 1,000 mile trip with my boys. However, the highlight of our weekend will be cheering for McKee at hobey baker event on Friday. Those of you with the day off come join us and cheer for McKee.by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: McKee - 19 years ago
How does the process work? Will the three finalists be in Columbus next Friday for the Hobey award? If so, and if McKee is one of the three finalists it will at least give some of us something to cheer for next weekend.by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: 1983 Harvard game question - 19 years ago
Yes you are correct on the Wilson miss and the cheerleaders were more than just annoying. However, didn't Olds do something to get the crowd going?by msphi81 - Hockey
Re: 1983 Harvard game question - 19 years ago
The Schafer stick breaking incident was great!! The most memorable game of that era at Lynah was probably the comeback victory against Providence in the ECAC quarterfinal playoffs in March 1979. I believe Cornell was down 5-1 with about 15 minutes left in the game and then scored 5 consecutive goals by five different players. Lance Nethery tied the score with about 15 seconds left by basicalby msphi81 - Hockey
Re: PWR Rating is a JOKE - 19 years ago
The problem with these rating systems is that they should deduct something for a loss to a lousy team. Minnesota should be penalized for its games against Michigan Tech, Minnesota State, and Minnesota Duluth. We had a nice win against Princeton last night, but that game did not matter in the national ratings. Effectively top teams should rest their star players when the are playing againsby msphi81 - Hockey
PWR Rating is a JOKE - 19 years ago
Let me get this...Minnesota has lost 8 of its last 12 games and is tied for 3rd in PWR. Moreover, three of the four wins were agains two questionable teams Minnesota State (9-14-6) and Minnesota Dulluth (11-14-5). Great job against Michigan Tech...they lost two games at home to them...a team with only 5 other wins.by msphi81 - Hockey
