Don't worry, Harvard still...

The blow goats every year they get to the NCAAs.  I'm tired of watching them.  With those clowns always choking and teams like UNO coming in and making a mockery of D1 hockey by getting fisted by an incredibly overrated BU team, I think we should just go back to the old format of 12 teams.  Unfortunately Holy Cross doesn't help that argument.
They may suck, but they did beat us at Lynah & in the ECAC finals :-(

I'd much rather beat them at Bright for the Ivy title, finish fourth in the RS, crush them for the ECAC title, and go 0-1 in the NCAAs than lose the Ivy title, finish third in the RS, lose to them badly in Albany, and go 1-1 in the NCAAs - even if the loss was epic.

Who here would rather have our season than theirs?? I'm just talking statistically, in terms of finishes, titles, records, etc.  Anyone???  ::screwy::
Never, after this weekend we have something to be proud of as we go to watch the NCAA's. Sure Harvard will be able to point to the ECAC's, but we can just look at what we did here. a bounce here or there and we skate for 2 more weeks. I'll take that any year.

I'd take going farther into the NCAA's over the ECAC tourney.  That could be just me, though.

And I'd definitely rather lose in a great game like we did, than get blown out 6-1

More selfishly, had we beaten H, I might have been able to go to the games, assuming we would have been seeded in either Albany or Ma. ;-)
You know, though it was a big deal before the brackets, I could really care less about where we went or who we faced now.  We faced two WCHA teams out West, and were still a goal away from the FF; we proved what we needed to.

I would.  20 years ago an ECAC championship meant more than it does today.  I like winning the ECACs, but in 2006 I care more about success in the NCAAs and the respect it brings nationally, as Schafer recruits all across the country, and I interact with more alums from other conferences schools.

Unquestionably I'd take our season. We didn't choke on national television during the NCAAs, and we showed that we can skate with the best of teams in the country. Harvard, on the other hand, lost to No. 12 maine, only a week after looking invincible, and 2 weeks after having to play three games to make it to Albany.  We were inconsistent, but so were they.  We didn't embarrass our conference, they did.

I don't think there will be very many WCHA fans that don't respect us after this weekend.

Another way of saying the same thing:  Harvard made their ECAC tourney win look like a fluke;  We made our loss seem like a fluke and redeemed ourselves against the nation's top-ranked team.  I think many of us seem to be in agreement that, even though we lost this last game, we ended our season on probably our best note.  That's the taste that's going to linger (mmm mixed metaphors), and it's the prouder way to come home.

Except for the usual inbreds that show up every March on USCHO and disappear shortly thereafter.

I'd say this season H got the better of our head-to-head conflicts, but we performed better than they on other stages.  I mean, when your archrival beats you in your last home game to take the Ivy League title away from you, then does it again the next week for the ECAC(HL) title, it hurts. :-/  But we had a better ending.  H's loss in the NCAAs isn't so embarrassing by itself; it's the fact that they do it every damn year. :-(

I'd rather have our season plus the Ivy, RS, and ECAC titles.  But maybe that's just me. ;-)

Right now it seems like we had a better season and result than Harvard.  But when all is said and done they won something (two titles) and we didn't win anything.  Yes, I'm proud that we won a game in the tournament and were oh so close to another.  But we didn't win anythign. :-/

How about respect... on a national scale. Personally I think that's what the program needs most right now, and probably what I want most. They won a ton of that this weekend.

I finally noticed that Harvard's five one-and-dones were all against Hockey East temas.  Somewhere it was said they should move to Hockey East to get a different first round opponent. :-)

I agree.  Go to the USCHO boards and look at what the Western fans think now compared to a week ago.  This year showed even a Cornell team having trouble playing at its best throughout the year can still go West and play just as well.
