Quote from: Greg BergeHas anybody ever heard of a game being "pre-poned"?  Say, for example, during baseball season there's a near certainty of a hurricane hitting a site on Sunday.  A logical solution: move the Sunday game up to create a Saturday twinbill.

Does that ever happen?
The Reds and Marlins are playing a pre-poned game right now, in order to avoid a rainout tomorrow from Hurricane Irene.

Slightly OT, but I've learned that "prepone" is a commonly used word among Indian speakers of English.

[Patiently awaiting the explanation for how the &*@! someone remembers an eLynah thread from 6 years ago inquiring about a "pre-poned" game] ::wow::

French Rage

Seriously WTF.  I was thinking "when the hell did we last play Vermont"?

During the summer perhaps this Forum should be renamed "the Forum about nothing" (sorry Seinfeld).

My guess is a combination of seeing the word "pre-poned" and eLF's search function. If you participated in a discussion about pre-poning would you ever forget it?

Yes, I searched for pre-pone on this site.  And I did remember the discussion.

Memory is a funny thing. I remember some esoteric conversation on a hockey forum, but I sometimes forget to make sure my children have their shoes in the car before I leave.

Good to know you remember the important things...

This doesn't seem like a big deal until you realize he uses Flintstones brakes.

And another "pre-ponement". Oakland A's v. the Red Sox, double header on Saturday. Saturday game at noon, Sunday's game at 5 pm.

I hope those of you in the mid-Atlantic and Northeast stay safe. I am very thankful that Irene veered East and missed Miami and the east coast of FL (just a nice breeze today and a few more isolated showers). I really didn't want to pack up the research lab this week.

And a Kenny Chesney concert scheduled for Sunday at Gillette Stadium has been pre-poned to Friday.

The sooner I finish not attending that concert, the better.

Indeed it is.  I get regular requests to prepone meetings involving our developers and testers in India.

Ten years ago, this could have been a Seinfeld episode. Is the concept too highbrow for The Office?

How much did you have to pay to stay home?
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."
