Bring her here, Charlie, the women's team needs it!

Still 2nd in points for Northwood, which is great for a D. Would like to see her at BK Selects and then Cornell. Maybe a little greedy.

That goal interference call is pretty bizarre given the calls I have seen happen all year on those types of play.

The D is riding the Cornell kid from 3-4 ft out of the crease all the way thru to the goalie and has his stick around him to control him.  Not sure what else he could have done other than fall down once they started gliding.  Once they got into the crease which he can do then what he could have done other than what he did. He tried to not hit the goalie but the D gave him no out and is clearly pushing him

Seems so clear from the video.

I mean, the [Colgate] kid's got his stick right up underneath [Pirtle's] gut and pushed him right into [the goaltender]," Jones said. "So I'm going to get clarification from the league, but I don't know. I don't know where he was supposed to go. I don't know."

What does he mean about clarification from the league?

I'm assuming that the league can "clarify" calls made by refs; for instance, to explain what Pirtle was "supposed" to do there, for Casey and others' future reference when coaching.

From complaining with others after the game, I heard (anecdotally, so take this with as much salt as you want) that it wasn't called off because Pirtle didn't get steered into the net - he did - but the call was that he "didn't make enough effort" to counteract that, and thus GI could stand.

Me, deadpan: so what's he supposed to do then, become fuckin Superman and fly to the other side of the rink?

I assume he means one of those "We're sowwy" memos the NBA puts out after every blown final minute call but it won't change anything, including how it gets called next time.

Quote from: Trotsky on Today at 03:27:27 AMI don't have any issues with the Walsh and Castagna calls, however.  If they make Casty a DQ and we lose him next Friday sucks for us but... don't do that.

Honestly, more okay with the Castagna call - in that basically everyone in the rink knew the minute he hammered that kid, tensions were boiling all the way over, especially after the shift I want to say JUST before where one of our guys learned assault is apparently fully legal if it's on ice.

Now, it was on the D/E side boards, so one of my blind spots and I didn't actually really see that hit, so I can't speak as to how dirty it was or anything like that. Hit from behind is a strange penalty in general too, don't kmow if I've seen it more than maybe Mack's Yale 5+game last year. (Wait, no, that was contact to the head. Point still stands.)

But if you're reffing this shitshow, just in general... how the hell do you let it even get to that point? How do you not even think to tell both coaches "next kid to start shit is getting a game" and enforce that? Hell, on both sides if need be. They had no issue giving Gio and Hiscock (and those other guys from Colgate) misconducts at the end of last game. (Sure, you can say it was the end of the game, but still!)

Figured I'd give Colgate a trophy seeing how happy they were after they scored in OT.

What was the reason for the 5+ minute delay late in the 2nd, right before the Castagna hit?

Longest delay I can remember when there wasn't even a clear reason for the stoppage.

Wasn't that after the Colgate players decided to assault Arseneault?

Because I mostly remember the refs and coaches yelling at each other over and over and over again about calls and noncalls and missed calls and shit.

Yeah, there was a mugging / response mugging.

But they didn't call any penalties. If you don't call anything, what's the point of explaining it forever? Just drop the puck.

I'm gonna guess both sides wanted some penalties and the refs decided no, and were explaining why not. Repeatedly.

According to the announcers, Casey was pretty much saying "okay drop the puck."

But I guess refs needed to explain things a lot.

Back in the 80's last night would've resulted in a "the ref beats his wife" chant. Hopefully they have some better ref taunts these days.

The tubes on the ice after the game was bush league and I hope the miscreants were pummeled to a fine paste by the crowd.
