BU did not look remotely like a tournament team

Because Robertson hate boner.

Why not Harvard though?

The Harvard game is just a fun event at this point, I don't feel the rivalry at all. They have no fans, they haven't been that successful the last couple years, and I support them in their fight against Trump (even though they are probably mistaken to do so and can't win).

Michigan I hate because of the Ben Robertson thing yes. Less Robertson specifically though. They're emblematic of a big program with all the advantages in the world poaching our players.

Personally, I hate Dartmouth more than Harvard. Historically, they've been dirtier, more prone to give us trouble even when they aren't good, and they were the last Ivy to admit women.

Add in the frat hazing to wall street pipeline, and there's a lot to dislike.

Anyways, down to 12 in NPI. Meh. Win the next ones.

HYP includes douche bros in their banquet.  At Dartmouth it's the main course.

e.g., Harvard is full of rich failsons and Zuck chuckleheads, but it also has a non-trivial number of genuinely fascinating and brilliant people who were "The best X from Y interested in Z," had their pick, and chose the brand.  That means along with the MBA drones and Finance sociopaths there are also violinists and theoretical physicists and mathematicians and English majors and people who contribute something of the value to the world.

Dartmouth is so small and silly, it truncates the pool and only has the former.  It's four more years of prep school and then off to Wall Street to steal money.

It is extremely hateworthy.

Note: if your loved one went / goes to Dartmouth they are of course the singular exception and a wonderful blessing to all of us and butterflies fly out of their anus.  Thank them for us, for just being them.

BU played like complete trash tonight and if there is any justice they will miss the NCAA tournament.

Cornell was much better, if they keep it up they'll have a shot.

Final thing I noticed: can we stop letting players just hang out in the crease on the PK? Got burned on it last night as well as a week or two back. At least mess with them if they're there.

Also - Cournoyer seemed to not want to play the puck at all last night. Which makes sense, given the BU team's ability to steal the puck and wreak havoc, but man I would've loved to have seen a slightly more proactive Courns. I'm guessing this was more a "don't do this against a team that can make you pay for it" move, but the puck moving abilities are part of why he's so good, and hopefully aren't limited as much in games that aren't at MSG.

Anywho. Not even a bad game overall. Learn from it, on to the next, rack up the easy points. If we're a 6-loss team at the end of the year (assuming we lose both Q games and Dartmouth rematch and win everything else) that will be wonderful and puts us in good position to get an at-large. Now, do I expect us to do that, no, probably win one or two of those and drop some easy points somewhere else because that's the way the game goes, but with our current schedule, on paper, that's doable. With 22 games, 15 wins on the season is definitely doable. Just take the easy points and RUN.

Vacuuming up 3 points each time we are a conference favorite is certainly going to be the measure of the RS.  In practice, it is a game of maddeningly close plays, posts, and puck luck, so we will drop our share of those "easy" points.  But don't make a habit of it.

The North Country is a good test.  On paper we should waltz away with 6 points.  In reality, it's a bitch of a trip and we virtually never get a clean sweep -- just once in the last 20 years.

I am hoping that Casey's 5-2 model gives us more margin for error than Mike's 3-1 model.

Such a great night of fun, got to do some touristy things while there.
The crowd was loud and the usual chants were great to hear. Loved seeing the newspapers going during the BU lineup announcement.
Not the outcome we hoped for but I thought it was a good game for us-we definitely had some good chances that unfortunately didn't convert. Things to work on for sure.
Heading out of the Big Apple now

Didn't we notoriously run that 8 forward, 9 defense lineup during the north country trip last year?

IINM Cornell has the best statistical defense in the country (I saw a graphic that we allow the fewest goals and maybe fewest shots as well, adjusting for SOS). Meanwhile we have been offensively challenged this season except against very weak opposition (Brown, Yale, RPI). There's no 5-2 model here. This team just looks like an extension of the Schafer style. Which isn't a bad thing.

To the eye test, we seem to be doing more tic tac toe passing in the offensive zone and looking a little more open, for better or worse. Just haven't finished on our chances.
