David Harding

The big headline in the Chicago newspapers asks whether he is a Cubs fan or a White Sox fan.  His brother answered the question, pointing out that since he grew up on the south side he was of course a Sox fan.

Hmm.  Didn't know that.  That's not getting a lot of press.

Am I right in assuming he's the first modern mixed-race pope?  Of course, I have no idea who the popes were in the early church, hence the "modern".

Daaaaaaaaa Pope!

Daaaaaaaaa prayerssss. (SNL nailing the self-referential joke last night)

Plus there's footage of New Pope attending the 2005 World Series in Sox garb that's making news.

Race in the sense we mean it is a modern conceit.  Amazingly, nobody gave a shit about skin color except as a curiosity, like eye color.

They cared A LOT about where you born and what language you spoke, though.

It's almost as if skin color was deliberately crafted as a wedge to keep the Poors from rising up and slaughtering the rich.  Or, far worse, voting for progressive taxation.

Sigh. Such is my lot.

That yesternight I told to thee.
