"Vow not to spend money on campus" ...including the tuition, then? The money paid for food on campus - much of it arguably pre-paid via dining credits - is barely a drop in the bucket...

Withdraw from school.  That's a protest.  Say one thousand students withdraw in protest.  That will hurt.

If you want any institution to do something, you must either hurt it or have a credible threat of hurt.  Without Malcolm, Martin can't accomplish doodlysquat.

Why would someone ruin their own life by dropping out of school? And then do what? Sit at home all day?

I thought they were trying to stop the wholesale rape of women.  Silly me.

They could transfer, but just bailing now doesn't accomplish anything. It's not like they'd get their tuition money back.

Hell, Jane Doe didn't even get her tuition refunded.

Transfer where? There's sexual assault at every school, probably quite a bit more at most of them.

You've lost the plot if you think this is a realistic thing for a person to do or would accomplish anything other than 30 minutes of attention.

One person doing it would accomplish nothing, but a mass movement could.  Just like one person not going to work is nothing compared to an organized strike.  The more important question is what would the demands be?  Would they be both well-defined and doable?

There are tens of thousands of qualified kids who'd take their place at Cornell in a heartbeat. Cornell is one of the best learning institutions in the world that students worked incredibly hard to get into and/or had incredibly rich parents. Nobody's going to throw away this opportunity because of something that happened two years ago, that also happens on every other college campus (and broader society), and that the Cornell administration arguably didn't even mishandle.

I feel like most of this boils down to "similar things happen at just about every other college campus and broader society as well". We kinda just got chosen as the current "face" of the issue.
