Whoo Hoo!  Never thought we would see it in a billion years.  Never bought the nonsense about the negative impact it would have on "The Game".  Now if we could get scholarships and NIL Collectives (Well we can dream).  My view of the Ivy League is that Harvard, Yale, and to a lesser extent Princeton have way too much influence on league policy.  Congrats to the SAAC on seeing it through.

That's probably the result we'd see now, but it's possible this move will help the Ivy teams recruit higher level talent that will allow the league to be highly competitive at the FCS level.

They will still be at an disadvantage, Play less games, start practice later.

Does FCS have wild cards make the playoffs?  is winning the ivy the only way to get in?

Do we have smaller rosters?

The final four this year are Montana State (Big Sky) and South Dakota, SD State, ND State, who all play in the Missouri Valley Conference for football.

I'm sure the Ivy champ will get an AQ

they said the IVY gets in

I was just wondering if 2 IVY could qualify?  Given they play less games that becomes harder as well.

there might be years when more than one gets in. more than one team from conferences other than MVC qualified, though the patriot only got the champ this year.

According to the Harvard Crimson only 1 Ivy team would be eligible so they have to come up with a tie breaker system.

i found the phrasing a little ambiguous. they need to have a tiebreaker because only one team will get an automatic bid - so the co-champ thing won't fly for qualification purposes - but i don't know if they are specifically foreclosing an at-large. I don't think this ever came up in the last, say, 40 years of pre-ILT basketball. Even in the years when I was in college and Princeton or Penn would occassionally get some top-25 votes, the committee never seemed to respect them as much as the pollsters (diminishing the chances of an at-large) and as far as I remember the elite team with a chance at an at-large never gagged the conference title, mooting the question.

I wonder if any Ivy has been in the Division I-AA top 24 for the last 40 years.  Maybe when Penn won about 30 straight.

You misspelled 99.  Maybe 149.

The best I-AA teams play like mid major .500 teams.  The best Ivy teams play like Texas high school .500 teams.

Just clicking randomly after googling "FCS rankings historical" I saw that in 2021, co-champs Dartmouth (21/23) and Princeton (24/21) both finished in the Top 25 of the STATS poll and the Coaches Poll.

I was trying to be rude but close to accurate. This year, Patriot champ Lehigh won its first round game against (9) Richmond before losing to (8) Idaho 34-13. Last year, Lafayette lost a squeaker to Delaware 36-34 before Delaware lost to (2) Montana 49-19. The best Ivy team is going to lose to the FCS titans but not any worse than the Patriot champ usually does.

Hell, Lehigh lost to Yale this year and guess who Yale lost to!
