Just heard Pecknold on Boomer and Gio.  He came off great.  Very likeable, reasonably, but not overly humble.  Only complaint is it would've been nice if he talked up the league a bit.

FWIW, we came in number 9 in the final USCHO poll, ahead of Sucks at 10.

He never talks up the league. It's always about Quinnipiac and him.

Which, whatever, but it's a major fault and probably a big part of the reason quite a few folks around the league don't seem to like him very much.

...but behind Denver at #6, who I would say Cornell beat pretty cleanly in the first round. The old biases are still alive and well.
Is next year here yet?

Colgate beat Quinnipiac twice this year.

America's best sportswriter, Jason Gay, covered Quinnipiac's win over Minnesota today in the Wall Street Journal. That's decent publicity.

Attendance was 19,444, a full house. The Cornell-Maryland lacrosse championship attendance was 22,184 (capacity 40,642) at Rentschler Field at Pratt & Whitney Stadium (sounds like Columbia's nesting egg doll naming scheme).

Interesting. Didn't know why he was disliked. Thought it was the 25 yo freshman.

One particular incident occurred in 2014. Cole Bardreau, who had recently returned from a serious neck injury, was checked hard into the boards by a Q player. As he lay on the ice, Pecknold screamed at the refs that he was embellishing. Schafer took exception to this, given Bardreau's recent serious neck injury, and went off on Pecknold in the postgame.

Again, congrats to everyone here who was rooting for Rand/Q to win the national championship.

Which includes Schafer.

Counterpoint: You never see Quinnipiac talked up by us. We consider them a poor academic relation with a fabulous rink.

Which rink (Q's) by the way is getting some significant back-of-the-house work. I hear things such as the weight room are not on par with the main hockey bowl itself.

Every time you say how much "we" love that dumb concrete tomb, I'm going to dispute it here. We all aren't photographers or fans of low minor leagues, bill. I think it's a middling place to watch a game at best. Not nearly as bad as their old community rink (or Starr) was, but I really dislike watching games there.

I also hate how the recent coverage has talked about how they regularly sell out. I've yet to see a game in that place that could be described as "packed."

Trotsky

The Q rink is another cookie cutter eye sore that will mark this age of tasteless stadium design the way Riverfront, Three Rivers, the Vet and Fulton County marked the 70s.

A machine for squeezing cash out of a captive human population that is pummeled by piped in garbage noise.

It's a fucking abattoir.

Oh come now, those bleachers at Starr had character! And it made it easier for the little grunions to scream at us while throwing tennis balls.

Source? Anyway, it doesn't really matter what Schafer said publicly. Never in a million years is a coach going to admit that he was rooting against a member of his own league.
