I saw Lansing State Journal, and thought "Lansing has its own newspaper?"

Oh...Lansing, Michigan.   ::bolt::

MSU's take on it.

Lansing State Journal

And finally the Sun's take.

FYI, the story posted to the Lansing newspaper is the same one from the MSU site. Just to save other people time.

This series has been a penalty parade

Wow. Someone needs to post video of the 6th goal by makinsky.   Hell of a snipe

watched the last two periods. this is the best stickhandling cornell team i've seen in ages. possibly since the final four squad. with the exception of the third period penalty kills, this was a great game. much better start to the season against the spartans.

upprdeck

they cut way down on the sloppy passing game 2.  good to see. generate a ton of solid chances.  It will be interesting if we can get more plays thru the center with speed as MSU clogged that down pretty well..

PK is usually a strength need to get that cleaned up soon.

PP good puck control and some decent chances, still need to move it a bit faster

Malinski!, Third Period!

Motley!, Second Period!
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

That Malinski goal was really something else. I think he previously saw some kind of behavior or tendency from the goaltender because he knew where he was going the whole time. It's not even that hard of a shot but it's placed perfectly in a spot where the goaltender's positioning wasn't enough to eliminate the angle

Great start to the season.  We came out more confidently from the beginning tonight, and we've got the ability to finish the play.  Motley's goal was a similar snipe to Andreev's from yesterday. Malinski and Malone continue to stand out among the large freshmen class.  I think it is safe to say that this is the deepest roster we've ever had.  Haiskanen should be back in a few weeks, but I didn't hear anything re Donaldson's status.  Despite the PP success, we did not have the same sustained zone time that MSU had when they were on on PP.  I suspect this weeks' practices will be emphasizing the PP and PK.

The last few times down the ice they kept setting Malinsky up to bomb it and he got in deeper that time and picked the far post. It was really, really nice to see. The two deflections in the second after Motley's goal were also really nice to see - one of my frustrations is that I feel (whether it's true or not!) that we do a bad job of getting a body in front to redirect shots from the outside.

I also thought Steinburg's first game was very solid.

The only real downer was Green's shift before MSU's second goal. First, he let the puck just fall off his stick near the blue line, failing to clear and basically handing the puck to Sparty, then as MSU was buzzing he committed a penalty. It's one shift and was uncharacteristic and probably ultimately means nothing but yeesh.
